I had never seen the original Sellwhod Bridge that was built back in 1925. itt one was Portland's first fixed span bridges. The new Sellwood Bridge that replaced it recently is a deck arch style bridge. It connects the Sellwood and Westmoreland part of Portland on the east side with Macadam Avenue on the West side. The new bridge opened... More

So hurrah its done. One more earthquake proof bridge linking east and west side. But living on the west means I have to drive around Tyson Park (quite a trek) to get back south to cross the bridge. So it looks great, traffic is terrible, and no shorter than using the Powell Bridge. Nice job....just not that useful for me.... More

This will be a beautiful bridge when it is reconstruction is done. It connects the east and west sides of Portland at a very beautiful, historical scenic spot. Cute shops and restaurants on both sides in nice neighborhoods. Boats and fishing below at the beaches.

It would be nice if you finished this bridge. It certainly needed replacement but to make the choice to not add any capacity is atrocious. It should be a nice reveal of the one lane each way bridge next year to see if it worth the millions of dollars spent.

We rented bikes for the afternoon along the waterfront. The Sellwood Bridge was pointed out as a crossing to get to the other side of the waterfront for our return to the rental bike location. The bridge is being renovated now through 2014 and will require careful crossing. We had a younger child on her own bike, and made sure... More

Avoid while under construction . But it might be interesting to some to see it in progress. They just slid the old bridge over , and are making the new one next to it.

The bridge is being replaced but anyone thinking of using it should know that when the Feds did bridge assessments the Sellwood scored a 1 on a 10 scale for structure and safety... it probably would have scored lower if they could have offered fractions.
