Only working Steam Railroad Museum in Oregon. We have three vintage steam locomotives, machine shop, rail history exhibits, gift shop, and space for birthday parties. 10-mile train rides on Saturdays, Holiday Express train trips in November/December. Home to the American Freedom Train, driven 32,000 miles across America during the Bicentennial. This GS-4 locomotive is the last operating steam locomotive of its kind (Streamliner, created in an art deco motif), and is the most photographed engine in the world.

The restored trains were gigantic and amazing, the men have done an excellent job restoring these big beasts, fun activity for about an hour, nice little gift store, a lot of history available to see and read

We took our granddaughter for the Holiday Train ride on a Saturday afternoon. Compared to the Hood River train trip we took last year, this is a total waste of time. Tickets for 4 cost $92 and we each got a candy cane. The Santa...More

For the price, $5,00 suggested donation, you get to see three steam engines and other rail memorabilia. It isn't huge but worth the time. Kudos to the total volunteer staff who provide the knowledge and information to guide you through.

Portland is known for its excursion steam engine in the railroad community. This is a great place to see them on display and being worked on if you have an interest in trains.

Great look at some amazing locomotives during restoration. The edges of the museum are lined with machine shop equipment to do all kinds of work on these. They are fun to look at now, but I can see that it will be constantly getting better....More

It is a super area to visit particularly if you have childeren. It was a slower pace & old fashioned train ride. We all though older, enjoyed it.

Although small, the Oregon Rail Heritage Center is a fascinating museum with steam engines being worked on constantly by volunteers and a history of the Greeks who built the railroad in Oregon. It's a great place to visit with children who are welcome to celebrate...More

The museum is accessible, but I would call about whether they would be willing to take responsibility for the scooter, and whether the train itself is accessible. We did not ride the train - only visited the museum.
