Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I had not read any reviews before we went to see this statue. We rode around the block three times. We finally asked someone and they said, “look up”. I almost jumped out of my skin. Kind of scary as it does look as if she is going to grab you. Otherwise, it’s an interesting piece of Portland culture.

The second largest pounded copper statue (after the Statue of Liberty). Be sure to go across the street and up the outside escalator to view Portlandia from an awesome perspective.

So many people walk right by and don't even know she's there! It's a beautiful statue that looms above 5th Avenue from her second (third?) story perch on the controversial Portland Building, designed by Michael Graves. In the summer, she can be partially obscured from the ground by trees, but in the winter months she's visible in all her glory. For a better look, cross the street. Also -there's a museum of sorts on inside the building that has info on her, why she was made & how, etc. The second largest hammered copper sculpture in the world! (Statue of Liberty holds the #1 spot.)

We discovered Portlandia on a walking tour which was so well worth it! From our hotel, The Nines, we actually realized we had a view straight down SW 5th Avenue and could see Portlandia. It is huge!

Not the usual statue and quite big. , I think the photos speak for themselves. There is a park nearby that is also worth a stop, on the street to which the status is giving it's back.

As we walked by, there was a segway tour making a stop there. According to the guide, this is the second largest statue in the US after the Statue of Liberty. I googled it and it turns out that it's not, but it's still a pretty impressive statue.

This gorgeous bronze sits above the entrance to Michael Graves' controversial Portland Building, which is surrounded by only 2 lane streets, so you could walk right by a block away and never see it. Also, the sculptor holds the rights to use of the image, so you won't find it used as a symbol of the city because he rarely gives permission. You'll see this on the free guided tour of Portland (tour guide works for tips) and learn a lot more about it if you take that tour (every day at 11am leaving from the Courthouse steps).

I had to see this statue as I am a fan of the TV show "Portlandia." It is very cool but a little creepy if you're like me and watched movies like "Jason and the Argonauts" where statues come to life.

Maybe move it to someplace where it can be seen when driving by. Probably best to just melt it down.

When sharing the Portland area with visiters we drive through Down town and note Pioneer Square and of course Portlandia. She as we here in Porland know was brought to town abord a ship, up the Columbia River. She is made of the same material as the Statue of Liberty. She welcomes all and is a sight to see. You have to know where to look and usually a short walk to view across the street gives the best of all views. Come to town to see Portlandia and enjoy the rest of our special bautiful City .. See YHou Soon!!!!!
