I tend to agree with other reviewers who say that mixing pedestrians and bikes is a dubious venture. I'd argue that it depends what day of the week you're going over to the esplanade and what the weather is like. For example, if it is a beautiful Saturday afternoon, the bikes tend to speed way too fast past the pedestrians... More

The Eastbank Esplanade is a path along the east side of the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon. This path is used by people walking, jogging, and riding bicycles. It extends 1.5 miles from the Steel Bridge and runs all the way south to the Hawthorn Bridge. The Esplanade has been available to the public since May 2001 when it was... More

Great view of the city. you can walk or just sit. be careful of bikers though. They are ruthless but do give you warning. You can walk quite a distance along the river.

Popular passageway on the river that locals use for walking, jogging, cycling. It offers a nice view of the downtown area on the other side of the river. There are no bars, restaurants, public restrooms and coffee-shops along the way since it's nothing but a nice patch along the rived made for enjoying the weather and views.

This walk is always so much fun to do as it is fairly flat and you walk along the Willamette River the entire time, just on the two different sides of the river and over the water via the Hawthorne Bridge and the Steel Bridge. Yes, you must dodge some bikers and baby carriages on nice days, but it is... More

This is a wide and well groomed pathway that runs along the east side of the Willamette River in downtown Portland. In some places, it is on piers in the river and others, paved and running along the shore. Great views of downtown and the Willamette. Fast moving locals use this to commute and exercise so pay attention to where... More

The Eastbank Esplanade is a nice pathway in Portland. It is wide enough to accommodate bicyclists and pedestrians alike. It runs along the Willamette River and passes by OrEgon Museum of Science and Industry. There is a bike rental place right next to OMSI so tourists can ride to their heart's content.

Wonderful multi-use trail along the waterfront. Loved the view and going over the Steel bridge and seeing all the Saturday market crafts. So glad I brought my bike. I walked from the NE side at first and then did the loop to Sellwood on my bike.

Thank Susan S
