Overall interesting with a mixture of art, focus on oriental. Easy walking distance to in town hotels. A bit expensive for the art exhibited.

This museum has a mix of something for everyone; paintings, sculptures, artifacts. It's filled with smallish rooms that are all easily accessible. The neon mod exhibit is a hit for those that remember the 70s and those that are younger that loved sitting on the...More

Just when you think there are no surprises with art museums, this lovely collection includes traditional, contemporary and local art together with representation from major artists and styles. Part Whitney, part MOMA and part Smithsonian. Must see for visual art fans.

We only spent two hours at the Portland Art Museum, but enjoyed every minute of it and will no doubt return. We appreciated the exhibit on the Native American photography, which was both moving and educational. And we always love a good European collection, which...More

Did not look at the art - was just there to watch a film for PIFF. Very clean museum, pretty minimalistic in term of decor. Staff was nice and helpful.

If you live here, or just visiting, this museum is a not-to-be-missed gem. The permanent exhibits are worth a stroll, but the special ones are always just that - really special. Devote a couple of hours here.

We've recently started going to the museum after a long time of not being too interested in their exhibits. Don't know exactly what's changed - I expect it's the influence of the most recent director. We've enjoyed it so much we bought a membership and...More
