Mark Twain said, "The truth is as precious as gold and that is why no one ever tells it" I sure would have liked to have had a conversation with him. My first challenge in the Art Museum was prostrating myself in front of the...More

My favorites were the French paintings in the European rooms. I haven't seen this nice a collection of French paintings outside of France. I thought France doesn't let the "good stuff" out of their country. I also enjoyed many different things in the contemporary building,...More

Pretty big, but only one good room. Couple nice pieces outside that room, but mostly not. Easy parking. Hopefully, with the high ticket-prices they'll be able to acquire better content later.

The comparison of both the contemporary and traditional in the exhibits were educational and enjoyable. It is a great illustratration of the differences in cultures of North America. The museum also contains American and European and also modern and contemporary art. We happened to go...More

This museum is spread between buildings with an underground tunnel connecting the spaces. A central elevator is a bit confusing as it has two separate control panels one for each of the adjoining buildings. Has a small coffee shop on the ground floor. Many great...More

I like funkier museums, and the Portland Art Museum acts like it's the MET, a bit snobby, HOWEVER they do have some fantastic shows, and some rather pointless ones. But I have seen some jaw dropping art there, so it's worth it to see the...More

We took our teenage grandchildren here and saw the "Jennifer Steinkamp" installation. I have never seen anything like it before. Life size trees, spinning though it's year, leaves and flowers animated on large screens then dropping their leaves, I can't really discribe it well, you...More

Street parking is available all around the museum, and parking lots as well. The gift shop at the museum is wonderful. Consider going across the street to the Oregon Historical Society if you have additional time.
