Finally found what I was looking for at Powell’s. There aren’t many travel books about the Channel Islands, just off the northwest coast of France, but Powell’s had them!

A great kinda quirky place with plenty of helpful staff and easy to navigate store. Even though crowded on a Saturday, never felt like you couldn’t browse and take your time.

We came here three times in our four day trip. We were lost for hours in the children's section, enjoying finding used treasures and new books yet to be discovered. Some of the prices on the used books are a little steep compared to our...More

If you are a reader, don’t miss this place. It is the ultimate book store - an overwhelming sea of books(new and old), helpful staff and lots of character.

As an avid reader this place was my happy place during the visit to Portland we made. A cavernous adventure of all things literary. I could've spent weeks pursuing the collections held in this amazing store. If only we had one nearer to home ❤️🇺🇸

What's not to love? It's a giant bookstore with a great atmosphere, well organized, tons of books in any genre or on any topic you can think of. Was pleased to see a very large Buddhist section and a far better than average section with...More

We’ve been to Portland several times now but haven’t gotten around to visiting Powell Books. We’re so glad we did! I wandered around for 1.5 hours forgetting about the outside world. My husband met me there after meetings and we stayed another 1.5 hours. Staff...More

Powell’s is a must see for anyone visiting Portland. Incredible bookstore independently owned. You can find anything there and spend hours roaming around the bookstore that is a city block. Love this place!

They have a parking lot! I also usually find parking on the street a couple blocks to the west. And, I often combine Powell's with a stop at Whole Foods, so I park at Whole Foods, go to Powell's, come back to WF and buy what... More
