About
At Raptor Ridge, our winemaking goal is to capture the fresh fruit flavors and delicate aromas offered by Oregon's Willamette Valley winegrowing region. Raptor Ridge Pinot noir ages in French oak and is racked in synchrony with the dark of the moon. Raptor Ridge Pinot gris is made in a refreshing Alsacian style. Raptor Ridge shares a 27-acre estate with families of Raptors — birds of prey such as Red-tailed Hawks, Kestrels, Sharp-Shinned Hawks and Owls. We are located on the northeast side of the Chehalem Mountains, 10 miles north of Newberg, Oregon.

Well worth going up the mountain. We had an amazing tasting with the new tasting room manager and ended up ordering a bunch of wines. Lovely patio.

Such a lovely intimate setting

We happened across Raptor Ridge after visiting the Lavender Farm down the road. It was a perfect sunny afternoon and a Rose to match :) . Charcuterie platter was nice too.

Great wines and a lovely view from the tasting room. Customary tasting flight is always available, you can also enjoy a glass of your favorite with a view of the mountains.

Some excellent Chardonnay and Pinot Gris along with less common whites like Grüner Veltliner and Auxerrois. The Rose is light and even better in the Brut Rose sparkling. A wonderful range of reds from fruit forward and creamy to warmer flavors of spice with chocolate and caramel. Also, don't miss the Tempranillo for more bold and rich flavors that are a treat.

Pinot Noir at it’s best

Scott and Annie have won a number of awards for their wines. They have a nice tasting room with a beautiful view. There is outside seating in nice weather and the doors open on the side of the tasting room adjacent to the patio. When it is clear you can see several of the volcanos. It’s a great lace to meet other wine enthusiasts. They have several wines besides PN.

Afternoon Winetasting
Jul. 2018 • Couples
We were on a small group wine tour that stopped here for a tasting. We really liked the Gruner Veltliner and Pinot Noir. There is a very nice view off the patio. The lady that did our tasting was very helpful. My only complaint if you can call it one was they only had the one red to taste.

Small tasting room, excellent host, stunning views

Newberg and the surrounding region, known for exceptional pinot noir and chardonnay. Raptor Ridge produces excellent examples, plus a few obscure "oddballs" ie gruner veltliner and auxerrois, the latter being a blending grape known in certain parts of France and Germany. I love that there are winemakers who enjoy the experimentation associated with growing/making wine from these grapes.

The host was cheerful and very knowledgeable. I was able to delve in to wine geekdom and have fun tasting.

Good vibes, Great Wine

I have visited Raptor Ridge a few different times and each was a pleasure! The view is beautiful, the staff is nice, and the tasting room has a great feel to it. I like the balance of modern architecture and visually interesting art pieces. Annie, the owner, is always sweet and the tasting room staff are very accommodating. White wine must try's - the Auxerrois and the Gruner, both Amazing!!! The Pinots are great too!

Great wine - neat smelling wall
Sep. 2016
We enjoyed a wine tasting at Raptor Ridge and purchased two bottles to take with us. We enjoyed the patio overlooking the vineyard and the friendly staff. We had a great time with the scent wall that is in the tasting room to challenge our ability to pick up certain notes found in the wine. I recommend a visit here!

This place was great. The wines are amazing, the staff are kind and courteous. The view is beautiful. We ended up staying and closing this place down it was such fun. Don't forget to play the smelling game(corked bottles with cotton ) where you guess what it is.

Thank you so much! We're glad you had fun. Our guests really do enjoy our sensory wall, where as you said, we have a variety of bottles that you can uncork and smell the different wine aromas. Trying to guess the scent is fun and a great way to hone your palate! Cheers to you and hope you come back soon.

Gruner Veltliner grown in Oregon? Outstanding!
Jul. 2016 • Couples
I love Gruner Veltliner and it is one of my favorite Happy Hour pours at De Carli restaurant in Beaverton. I thought that to get a Gruner varietal, the wine had to be imported from Austria. Shipping liquids isn't great for the environment. So I try to limit my consumption of non-local beverages.

We drove to Raptor Ridge to check out the view and found local Gruner Veltliner! Even better, it tastes fabulous. The servers were very knowledgable about the wines, offering help to all of the visitors on Saturday afternoon. I learned that Loess soil is needed for the Gruner grapes to thrive and that this Chehalem Mountain location has plenty of it.

As far as environmental practices, Raptor Ridge has reusable hand towels in the restroom to limit disposable paper usage. The winery features yoga retreats and brunches with wine pairings.

There are several wines to taste here and many patrons were thrilled with the Pinot Noir selection. The view is outstanding! It is a short drive from South Beaverton and a lot closer than the Gruner grapes in Austria!

Tasting fee $15 waived with minimum purchase.
