Years ago I went to this park, and was expecting a whole lot different than a run down, dirty park. Also, no river access that we found, even tho it was super hot out so we didn't hike far! Not impressed . I will say...More

I usually go here to play Disc Golf, but it can be a bit crowded on the weekends. And there are occasionally big picnics that get in the way of the DG holes. But a very nice place for big picnics.

We came, enjoyed a picnic lunch, took a little time to look through the museum at the visitor's center, and then went for a walk while our kids rode their bikes! The bike path was paved & in great condition. There was also a special...More

This is a sweet little campground close to I-5 but once you're there it's peaceful and quiet. Lots of different things to do at this park. The camping area is nicely treed and offers privacy. The camp hosts are especially nice and helpful. Beautiful area.

Great campground, lots of grassy fields and disc golf. Some forested areas too, with a bikepath along the river that leads to the state's oldest continuously operated store. Enjoy some ice cream there as your reward. Don't miss the visitor center and learn about how...More

love taking a ride out here and walking with the dog. Camping is reasonable. Several paths and options to take short hikes.

The ride to and from was on a narrow road that was spooky when trucks or large vehicles went by me. After getting to the start of the trail from Butteville rd. into the park, passed severalareas of very scenic views of the forest and...More

First thing you need to know is how to pronounce it, Shampoo-ey, don't ask me how they came up with that spelling, but if visiting you may want to be in the know. We were looking for a spot to camp near Portland and ended...More

I cannot count how many times I've been there - it is our go-to destination for a large group picnics or outdoor parties, a quiet stroll in the park or a bike ride with kids. The place is a historic marker - it was here...More

There is a picnic table at each site. Often times families will rent many sites and drag all the tables to one site then return them when they're done.

Not really. The Willamette is right there. If you are a strong swimmer, you could, but there's no beach or cordoned off swimming area.

I'm going to say probably. We have never been in them at Champoeg but all the other parks that we have hosted and cleaned yurts/cabin do have elec/heating. Since they are open year round that is a good indication they do... More
