Can't believe how expensive wine tasting has become if you don not become a member. We are tryiing to be nice with three stars, but this was really not a good first wine tasting experience in Willemette Valley. Picked for its trip advisor ratings and others. Oldest winery. We sat in a tent behind people that paid $55 for a marginally good view, we paid $35 a piece, plus the market basket and we were really looking forward to truffles, $105 for a lunch. Well, out of truffles, we get bitter chocolate, OK, but not truffles. Our pours were so meager in these carafes, we barely got three small tastes. Wines were OK, pinot Blanc we like the best. Our wine steward tried hard, but shard way too much of her personal life and not enough about the wine, she just talked way too much period and that made the whole experience poor. The best deal was that you only had to buy two bottles to get credit for one tasting, so we got two pinot blancs for another $25.

Adelsheim is a must-visit, for travelers and locals alike. The experience is always top of its class, the staff are charming and brilliant and the wines are some of the best in the region. Thank you to Paul and Mark for making my recent visit incredible. In terms of COVID safety, it couldn’t be better. Easily the most pleasant COVID experience I have had. Feels very “safe” while still being a high quality visit. And the food- definitely try truffle fondue! Can’t wait to go back soon.

We visited in October 2020. Reservations were required and made by our hotel. The setting is lovely!; due to COVID-19, all tastings were conducted outside, and that was fine by us. We had a lovely fall Oregon day and a great view of the vineyards surrounding the tasting room. Of any winery we visited, Adelsheim took COVID protocols most seriously; staff stayed six feet away and dropped-off tastings on a separate table. They still managed to provide a personalized experience, however; the woman who conducted our tasting was extremely knowledgeable about each wine and fun to engage in conversation. She also added a couple of pours of things that were open, which was nice. There was a nice variety of wines. As you’d expect (it’s Oregon, after all), the focus was on Pinot noir and Chardonnay, but a Pinot blanc and rose were also on offer. They have also started making sparkling wines (from Chardonnay and Pinot noir), one brut and one rose. The rose was excellent. The Chardonnays we tasted were also enjoyable; they had light oak and one had a particularly excellent mouthfeel. One cool part of the tasting was a feature of two Pinot noirs from the same block from different vintages, tasted side-by-side; it gave you a great sense of how climate affects the end result. The sparkling wines were both excellent—so excellent we had to buy some! A nice experience. Would recommended and would happy return.
