Howard Prairie is a seasonal recreational area with camping and boating during warm summer months. In summer, there is a hiking trail that goes around the entire lake. I've never done it so not sure of its length. My athletic niece hiked it and took her all day. Winter is snow-packed so all-wheel drive vehicles are necessary. Not sure of... More

I have, until three years ago, fished Howard Prairie faithfully on opening day of trout fishing every year since 1977 when it was possible. I have seen the fishery and management thereof decline to the point I no longer even consider the trek for opnening day. This is a sad saga of the trout fishing most everywhere in Oregon.

Howard Prairie Lake had been a family favorite for many years! When you live in the Rogue Valley you have so much beauty that surrounds you that choices for weekend getaways or just a day drive on your day off are myriad! Howard Prairie is one of our many trout fishing lakes that had suffered from drought conditions in recent... More

We recently spent some time at Howard Prairie. We took a hike to Willow Point which was not only scenic, but we also saw deer in various areas. We took a boat ride on the lake which was very pleasant. Our friends were able to catch three good-sized trout within one hour! The camp hosts were also very friendly! The... More

Originally from Oregon the lakes are amazing, the mountains and fresh air is breath taking. If you have the chance to witness Howard Prairie Lake after the winter has hit and still has signs of snow you will love it. The water has an aqua blue look.

It is way up in the mountains so it did not get very warm. Very far from town, so don't forget anything! The lake is really for fishing... My kids tried to swim, but I got too nervous after we found multiple fishing hooks. Both bathrooms, although they were kept clean, were not "close" to camp. The one closest to... More

We have camped here multiple times and love it. The staff at the store and the boat marina are fantastic and go above and beyond. Camp sites are clean and camp hosts are friendly, showers are free and bathrooms always have been clean!

Friendly, helpful staff at the store/restaurant and marina. Clean and beautiful! No wi-fi reception, which forced my teens to "unplug" and unwind -- relaxing! Cool mountain breezes allowed an escape from the valley's hot weather. The Resort's ice cream cookie sandwiches were yummy.
