This lake is part of Newberry Crater, and is a non motor lake, so ideal for kayaking or canoeing. Best in the morning since the wind typically gets up around need. Nearby are two key attractions -hiking on the Obsidian flow, which is spectacular, and driving (or hiking) up to the lookout on top of Paulina Peak. On a clear... More

East Lake is only 16 miles from La Pine, Oregon. It is a beautiful place with many activities one can do. Fishing, boating, kayaking, wind sailing, camping are just a few. It is in a national park. Be prepared for some wind it seems to blow each day at some point. The lake is closed in the winter as it... More

Peaceful, great place to kayak or fish, great for well-behaved children with appropriate safety gear (life vests, etc.)

Camping in Cinder Hill Campground. Located on East Lake, one of two lakes inside the remnants of Newberry National Monument volcanic crater, there is so much available to do! Hiking, biking (single track-Amazing!), kayaking, sailing, great fishing, with the East Lake Resort Lodge within walking distance. The only bummer was that campfires were not allowed due to extreme fire danger.

East Lake is one of two lakes within the Newberry Caldera/Crater at the top of Paulina Peak. (The other lake is Paulina Lake on the west side of the peak.) It is quiet, peaceful, restful. The views are beautiful. The fishing is great according to my neighbor who goes up regularly. There is boat rental available for fishermen or day... More

Great quaint lake. My husband and I really enjoyed it here. Lots of hiking around this part of Oregon. It's a definite must stop during your drive along the cascade mountains

This is a smallish fishing lake 30 minutes off of Hwy 97, with plenty of camping places, boat rentals and restaurant/ store. Fun for the whole family. There is swimming and kayaking as well.

Although popular with x-country skiers, snow-shoers and snow-mobilers in (some) winters. I always hike the trails throughout Newberry Crater N.M. and enjoy fishing in the lakes (usually in a boat) during the summer

We went on a guided fishing trip to learn how to lake fly fish. I was a little expensive but well worth it as we learned so much from our guide that we plan to return next year and try it on our own.

We spent a beautiful sunny day here on the shore of the lake with our kids. We all swam together and had a great time. From the number of fisherman (and women) it seemed a popular place to fish as well. I do wish that they would have given us just a little more space to swim in, they seemed... More
