Along Highway 101 between Florence and Yachts, Oregon is the Heceta Head Lighthouse. If driving along the beautiful Oregon coast, you'd regret it if you didn't stop by the Heceta Head Lighthouse. Parking is convenient and inexpensive ($5) at the kiosk (takes credit cards). The parking area has bathrooms and a nice beach. The trail to the lighthouse and caretakers... More

A lovely walk up a hill from the beach takes you through wooded areas with views of the surrounding sea stacks and cliffs. Today it was made more impressive because the fog was moving in and out quite quickly. The light house is beautiful. Halfway up is a gift shop that has ice cream and other refreshments. At the Lighthouse... More

Watching the Heceta Head lighthouse in operation at night is just an amazing experience. We did the tour during the day and came back 30 minutes before sunset and stayed at the lighthouse until just before the park closed at 9:00pm. It is not necessary to be staying at the B&B to be at the lighthouse in the evening. To... More

We hiked up the path to the lighthouse and it was fabulous. We had a great (free) tour. We also took some gab pictures. The history was great to hear.

A traveller interested in history should not miss out on this little gem along the coast. Heceta lighthouse is worth more than the photo from the parking lot along the coastal highway. It is allegedly the most photographed lighthouse along the coast and with its spectacular location this is easily understandable. But leave your car at the parking lot and... More

You reach it after a half mile hike that is quite scenic and lined with wild blackberries. You learn about the history of the Oregon lighthouses and some of those who served them.

Even peering through the fog, it was obvious that it was a very beautiful lighthouse mainly due to the contrasting stone details around the windows and door. One day I hope to stay in the assistant lighthouse keepers' duplex which is now a bed and breakfast.

Right off of Highway 101, easy to get to. The lighthouse is great as well as the beach and surroundings. 1/2 mile hike from parking lot and probably shorter from the road. Parking looked like it could be challenging on good weather days, but otherwise nothing else was an issue.

While repairs are being done on the tower, no tours are allowed. However the tour guide in the historic light keeper's house is very knowledgeable. And the staff at the light gave interesting facts about the light and the restoration project. Families, couples, and groups were all enjoying the beach near the parking area. Some were exploring the tide pools,... More

We visited the Heceta Head Lighthouse on our trip to Oregon and it was fantastic. Had a nice time walking along the beach area, exploring, and just hanging out. It was so beautiful. Also hiked up the trail to the Lighthouse where there are amazing views of the coastline. Would definitely recommend as a stop along the Oregon coast.
