This was mine and my wife’s first experience hiking in Oregon. We are from Arizona, so we were very much looking forward to some cooler hiking, and the Heceta Head Lighthouse to Hobbit Beach trail did not disappoint! As hikers go, we are definitely beginners,...More

I almost hate to mention this place because it has become very popular. We took the dogs for a walk and were amazed at the beauty of the journey to the beach. Be advised, it is not an easy walk. It's not overly strenuous either....More

Short jaunt down to the beach, and back up. Took about 30 minutes, probably a little less than a mile total. Worked up a nice sweat. Cool flora.

This trail connects to the path system from the Haceta Head Lighthouse, or for a much shorter hike, there is a pull off on the highway that leads from the road right down to the beach. We were skeptical about how the trail would be...More

Though there's a sign on the north bound side of the highway, this is still a little hard to find. Look for parked cars. You must cross the highway to get to it. The beautiful moss covered trees that line the trail make you want...More

This hike is a great 4 mile hike when added with the China creek loop but you better know where you’re going. We started the trail at the beach marker 92 and head south to marker 93. From there, up the wooded trail (slippery) with...More

Just a beautiful trail down to a very private beach. Easy to park and find. Well worth the stop. You can take a north branch off the trail and visit the Heceta Lighthouse.

It was pouring rain when we were there. Still, the trail was interesting. When we got to the beach, the wind felt like it was blowing at about 45 mph so we didn't spend much time. I think this could be a really nice short...More

Colin Fletcher said, "Every walk of life falls under the Testicular Imperative: Either you have the world by them, or it has you." I couldn't agree more, but hiking down the mysterious Hobbit Trail you feel like you have the world by them. It is...More
