Easy hike and nice views
Jun. 2021
Yes, you can drive to the top for the nice overview of Eugene, but the hike is pretty and easy. Lots of shade during the hike, nice to do on a hot day. Playground at the bottom plus the hike makes for a nice way to work off kid energy. Or go up as a couple, you could enjoy a picnic in the sun on the big grassy field at the top. Or, if you're just starting an exercise routine, this easy but enjoyable hike is a good place to start without getting thoroughly exhausted.

Great view of Eugene
Apr. 2021
Driving to the top (or hiking or biking) you can get a a view of Eugene and a glimpse of Autzen Stadium. There is colored chalk up top for kids to draw on the pavement of the viewing torret. There was some trash on the hillside by the big O, with glass on the ground, so no bare feet here especially for the little ones.

Fun and memorable
Sep. 2019
I love the historical parts of this Butte. I love seeing the mansion, and the drive up, getting out for the views... and I love the park nearby as it has interesting playground equipment which is a rarity these days. There is a whale the kids can climb on and inside of... and it is painted pretty colors. I love the swings and the interesting little log cabin. The trails in the park were amazing to walk and our children used their scooters and skateboards for nice long sections. The river next to the park is of course gorgeous.

Exceptional!
Jul. 2020
This beautiful park has it all! The path, historical markers, sculptures, and themed playground are outstanding! The only area that really needs improvement is the splash pad. One little sprinkler shouldn't be called a splash pad.

Day Hike
Jan. 2020 • Couples
Good day hike for beginners. You walk through an interesting neighborhood, past cool shops and murals. Relatively easy trail. Beautiful house on site that you can tour for a nominal fee.

A small mountain on the edge of the city - the place to go when you need to get above everything
Jan. 2020
Only a few minutes from downtown Eugene, this mountain is well worth a visit. There are two trails leading from the parking lot, one half the distance (1.5 miles or 2.4 km) and steep and rocky and the other gradually rising around the mountain until you climb above timberline when you see all the little alpine plants. Elevation gain is around 800 feet (250 meters). Halfway up on the longer trail is a connector to a ridge trail which is worth seeing. We enjoyed the deep woods as well as the clear views at the top. The mountain is popular with locals, we have never seen visitors on it.

Was just in town for the day and this hike was recommended. Was a nice easy hike, did it on a Sunday and not crowded at all. Nice view of the City as summit.

Great view of Eugene!
Jul. 2019 • Family
We did the climb with my 2 teens and 78 year old mother in law. It's fairly steep but a smooth path. The view at the top is worth it. A local did tell us to watch for rattlesnakes. Good to know!
