The water level was so low we could see the ancient forest that lay at the bottom

This place was a bit creepy, as I'd saw it when the lake was full, but this past May of 2015 it was nearly empty. And a graveyard of old growth trees protruded from the soil... read more

I came to this park via a mechanical failure with my RV while crossing the mountains. It just happened to be downhill and that allowed me a couple of miles of travel without a radiator fan. That said, it is a nice little park. They may have more camp hosts in here than I've seen before. Ah well, that is... More

Drought coupled with need to keep water flowing downstream for the salmon has temporarily negatively impacted water level. State park here is very good with all the amenities. Solid choice if camping without need to have significant water activities. Great place to camp but call ahead if desiring boating activities.

We went for a day visit to Detroit Lake State Park. Detroit Lake is a beautiful large lake. There is a marina and it is a popular lake for boating. There is camping, swimming, fishing, hiking, bird watching, picnics, and more to do at this nice state park in Oregon

This was our first time camping at Detroit State Park. We enjoyed our three days there. We had so much to do from walking around parts of the lake to fishing. But most of all relaxing on the lake on and off our boat.

My husband and I camp host for Oregon State Parks, we had never camped or visited Detroit Lake before we hosted there this past June. I must say it was delightful. The staff is wonderful and they have so many quality programs geared for kids and adults. If you haven't had the opportunity to visit, please do, you won't be... More

Just spent 5 nights here. Very clean, very nice, camping spots are stocked with a fire-pit and a picnic table and a paved spot. The camp hosts and rangers are very nice and helpful. The lake is beautiful, and nice for boating or swimming. The few things I wasn't impressed with: 1. There is NO dump station. and very few... More

Camped here for five nights in Mid-April. Only the F and G loops were open and I was able to camp for free except for an $8 reservation fee since I am a disabled veteran. There were only a few other campers in the park so it was very quiet. The Fish and game folks just stocked the lake with... More

This place was a bit creepy, as I'd saw it when the lake was full, but this past May of 2015 it was nearly empty. And a graveyard of old growth trees protruded from the soil, giving testimony to the destruction of man to make way for technology. It was heartbreaking as some of these trees seemed to rival the... We've camped here for more than 40 years and it's a great place to camp when there is water in the reservoir. We prefer to camp in a tent since we have our boat, so the B Loop is our favorite place to stay. We like it for two reasons- we're close to the water and we have the ability... More

We've camped at Detroit lake over a dozen times in the past 4 years! It's easy to see why the camp spots fill up quickly! We last visited in June (2015) and even though the lake was low, we still had a blast! There may be less water, but there's more beach! ;) We especially enjoyed walking along the pebbled... More
