We live in this area and the McDonald-Dunn Research Forest has a variety of trails (long and short) through new and old-growth forest areas. Especially nice late spring through fall, although definitely hikeable even in the rain.

Spent a couple hours plodding up the hill to the top of Dimple Hill. Great walk, varied forest is a mix of Douglas Fir (Psuedotsuga Menziesii, Hemlock and mixed deciduous. Varied soils. Trail had mostly a crushed basalt on the surface so would be OKAY...More

The best thing about the forest ...it;s a forest! we see horse's and the fox. There's a large group of turkey's. We have met wonderful people on the trail's.
