Old town Coos Bay

We just drove through Old Town and it was very interesting to see the old buildings and the boardwalk. One could imagine when this was the original town, centered around the bay.

The boardwalk has a couple of historical sites that are marine oriented, a nice place for fish and chips and a marina to look at boats. A pleasant place to take a walk and very close to many restaurants in the area.

My wife, me and our Scottie Terrier strolled this exceptional boardwalk in early September. Along the way we stopped for lunch and enjoyed outstading steamed mussels. Water for our canine friend. We encountered interesting shops, visited various fishing boats displaying freshly-caught fish and read many restaurant menus, making it difficult to make a selection. We're planning a return trip.

The Coos Bay boardwalk is beautiful and has some interesting informational bits about history, but I won't ever go back alone. The homeless hang out in one of the buildings, some appear to live there. Had one ask for money and get upset when I didn't have any. It would be peaceful if not for being afraid of being attacked... Good place for a quick visit. Not much to do. The Fish and Chips restaurant is good. Walk along a few boats on the dock. Nice historical sign. Nice visitor center across the street. Some good shopping one street over.

It does not take long and is a nice short stroll along the water with several informational boards telling the history of Coos Bay and why it is named Coos. There are also a few boats on display, lot is covered so even if there is a little rain you are protected

We took a stroll after dinner one evening. The boardwalk is relatively short but a nice place to see the boats and be close to the water.

All it is is a boardwalk that needs some cleaning up. It used to have lights that lit up certain areas in the pavilion to point out cities but all the lights are burnt out. Not a lot to look at.

There's a covered pavilion if its raining. Informative and interesting maps and local information is available. The Tourist Office is just across the street.
