Good place to learn about where the salmon in the market comes from. Young and older kids would love to get a handful of food from the 25 ¢ dispenser to feed the rainbow trout. The most honored resident on the premise is Herman in the sturgeon pond. Don't miss him! Just follow the fish signs on the ground :)... More

This was a really really interesting place to visit. Excellent educational information, beautiful grounds, great for a picnic or large group to visit. The sturgeon pool is great. Those are amazingly big fish and the have a terrific viewing location so you can see them underwater. We really enjoyed this visit!

Educational visit to Bonneville Hatchery. Highly recommend this as a stop for young and old. Bring quarters to feed fish; have hands ready under dispenser. The free admission to the grounds, vegetation, metal sculptures and educational center and gift shop make it all a stop worthy visit.

While visiting waterfalls, we stopped in to visit. We enjoyed feeding the trout and seeing Herman. Everyone should visit a fish hatchery to understand how it works. The tour is self-guided. We stayed about 30-45 minutes and visited the adorable little gift/coffee shop, too.

We stopped by here on our way to Multnomah Falls and I am so glad we did - first off the setting is wonderful and second, if you have any interest in the rich legacy of fishing in the region, you need to stop here!

Feed some trout. Look at the lovely ponds, and see a prehistoric fish (or three) up close. No entry fee - take your time and enjoy!

We love going here any time we're in the Gorge. It's free and very entertaining. Feed the trout at the trout pond or stop by and watch the GIANT sturgeon from the underwater viewing room. Your kids will love it!
