As far as I can tell, there are private and resort cabins as well as campgrounds running the entire length of the Metolius River. Despite this, it's as peaceful, beautiful and relaxing as can be. We also found well maintained and pretty flat hiking trails...More

It is worth checking out. It feels like virgin, sacred land. Someone has provided a nice platform to allow all to see this amazing river at it's source.

The Metolius River is a gem. Crystal clear (and cold) water which flows from a huge spring (Head of the Metolius). That is a short walk off the road about 1/4 on a nicely paved path. For those who want more of a hike, drive...More

A nice place to visit. Very serene and comfortable. A bit expensive but a great get away. Picnic or stay either is great.

This is a most unique and beautiful area anytime of year. We go in winter to see the snow, in fall to enjoy the quiet and hike, in spring & summer to hike, fish, camp. It is still unspoiled. The Camp Sherman Store is a...More

The river can be viewed at its emergence. It flows out of the ground. Origin is not known. Believed to be from the Cascades several miles away. The setting along the entire river is pristine, with minimal human impact. Mostly used for sight seeing and...More

Go to the headwates of the Metolius. Beautiful setting and worth seeing the river appear from under the rocks.

Good fly fishing year round if you are good. But the views and sounds can't be beat. Nice trail along the river and several cabins that are nice and not too expensive where you can enjoy the river on the coldest of days.

Living in Central Oregon, I was shocked when I first saw the Metolious and enjoyed a hike along it's beautiful blue waters! The green riverbank is a sharp contrast to the typical high-desert landscape. Beautiful river to hike along.
