Reading other reviews, it gets busy here. Yes, I think the locals all know to come here. The lake is so beautiful and clear. It's shallow so you can walk pretty far out if you want. We came to hike around the lake but we...More

Great spot to get away and enjoy nature. Be advised the parking lot is a zoo and seems to be packed every day during summer. Bald Eagles, osprey, and many other wildlife. Not many fish though.

Listen up! Don't just take your SUP rental down the Deschutes River by the Old Mill District! Everyone's doing it! Take 'em on up to Sparks Lake. Very few people, the lake is quite calm, and there is lots of shore to pull up your...More

The bumpy dirt road leading to the lake is easy to miss off Cascade Lakes National Scenic Byway. Once you travel down the road, you will run into the lake. It was very beautiful with snow capped Mt Bachelor in background. There were lots of...More

We have been to Sparks Lake a couple of times. When we went at the end of September the water was getting pretty low. We went in July this year and the water was high and the lake was clear and blue. We saw kayaks...More

Because the water is a little shallower than other lakes, but the mountain views are still divine, this is a great starter lake for new kayakers! Go before August when the water gets too low, and get there early to find a parking spot.

We did a canoe tour here with wanderlust tours. Absolutely stunning views of the mountains from this lake. It is an incredibly clear lake and very shallow in parts. It is so cool that you can actually hear the water draining out of this lake...More

Sparks Lake is full of activity, especially canoes and sups. The view of the lake and the mountains behind is breathtaking. Also refreshing to take a bath. Do not expect difficult hikes or hikes with very good views. Mostly through the pine forest. But alright...More

A gem 20+ miles from Bend. We went at 8 am to walk the Ray Atkeson Trail. The reflections of Mt Bachelor were spectacular. Fun to see lots of kayakers and paddle boarders with dogs. It was getting crowded at 10:00 when we left. Go...More

Excellent for both. Lots of paddle boarders and kayakers. The lake is shallow for its size. VERY crowded, especially on weekends. You'll have to park and walk a ways then.

Way to cold? No but it won't be hot either. You are in the Cascade Mountains at 5500 feet, It could snow, hail, rain or be sunny. Be prepared for most any type of weather and you should have a great time.
