The only museum in the State of Oklahoma that has a mummy (Tutu)! This place is fantastic and deserves a listing based on my recent trip.

The collection is small but impressive. It is well cataloged and organized with pieces (and 3 mummies) ranging from pieces that are Egyptian to Native American to Modern Art. Note that the entry way is actually where the large green gate is- when the museum is open these two gigantic green doors will open and you will be able to see... More

Much of the time there's no admission for such a fabulous exhibit. The place is filled with artifacts from around the world. It tells the real stories about a journey from the old country to a small settlement in sacred heart . The academy was to be built there but eventually was erected in Shawnee, ok. This will be a... One person with a vision can make a difference, and Father Gregory Gerrer of St. Gregory's University in Shawnee, OKlahoma is such a man. The father was not just a fine artist on his own (his portrait of Pope Pius X is a masterpiece....I must have spent 15 minutes in front of it) but he collected art and historical artifacts,... More

In July, I was headed to Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma from Knoxville, Tennessee. I had some spare time and searched on Tripadvisor.com for activities in the local area. The Mebee-Gerre Museum of Art was ranked number 1. This museum is not big facility. It is easily located because the museum is located on the campus of St. Gregory’s... More

This is a wonderful museum, we had a great time with all the exhibits, lots to see, you will really enjoy. Also it's free for June July and August. Staff was fun and full of energy. Check out the ivory jewelry box. List goes on and on.

We went on a Sunday afternoon and had the place to ourselves. The gentleman at the reception desk was very friendly and informative. This is not a large museum but it has a lot of variety and is well worth the time to go through. Finding the building is not easy and they could solve that by putting a small... More

The Mabee-Gerrer is a small museum yet they fit a little bit of nearly every culture into their well laid out museum. They have even added a second mummy to their collection. I make a point to visit any time I am in the area.

I was totally astonished by what they exhibit for a small museum. A little bit of everything is how I can define it. You won't be disappointed
