This museum/gallery has more than the expected cowboy memorabilia as expected from the name. In addition to an extensive collection of barbed wire and branding irons there are examples of western-themed art. We should have allowed more time for our visit. We only did a walk through (due to their closing time) and could have spent a lot more time... More

Great experience, we just did not plan enough time. It is much larger then one would think, fabulous paintings and sculpture, many different venues pertaining to western life. Enjoyed!

We have been to Oklahoma many times and never have we been able to visit any of the attractions. We were so happy that we got to see these great museums. National Cowboy & Western museum. So well put together and so much history. Amazing that how old and beautiful condition the articles and the pictures were in. A must... More

For me, the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum has always been a high quality art museum. The paintings are amazing and the sculpture is phenomenal. There is enough to see for at least a couple of days. If you're into shopping, try the gift shop which is filled with lots of unique items. On this last visit I chose... More

This was a wonderful afternoon, spent wondering from gallery to gallery. All of my life I had heard that this movie cowboy or that had been from Oklahoma and found that, while they may have spent time in the state, most were actually from other areas. It was very interesting to see the many costumes on display from television westerns... More

I went here with my dad when I was little. Now I take my kids. This museum is very diverse in its history and exhibits. There is a dedicated kids area and my kids love the little town. The staff is very friends and informative and never treat my kids like they don't belong in a "museum". They go out... More

The brochures recommended 2 hours but I would allow up to 4 hours if you are interested in this. There is lots to see and it takes time just to get to all the exhibits. We went on a Wed and was pleasantly surprised to find it was free that day. It only opens at 10 am. We spent the... More

This is not a typical museum. Various exhibits takes you through traditions of the West, like saddle making, paintings, Indian cultures, western movies, rodeo, and much more. Highly recommend to anyone curious about cowboys, Indians, and western traditions. The museum also has a nice outside garden.

A must see. Very well presented western art work. Permanent and also during our visit exhibits for sale from a Western Art Show. The gardens are also lovely. Definitely go. Very friendly and helpful staff. Parking is free and ample.
