Historic home of William Fremont Harn who came to Oklahoma Territory as a Federal Agent to settle Land Run disputes in 1891. The Harn House was built in 1904 when he and Mrs. Alice Moores Harn decided to make Oklahoma Territory their permanent home. Since that time, other historic buildings from other locations have been added to the property. The mission of the Harn Homestead Museum is to preserve the historic homestead and educate the public about the territorial years of Oklahoma. The Harn Homestead Museum is proud to be a part of Adventure Road.

This is a taste of early Oklahoma rural life. You have to plan on exploring this historic site because the hours of operation are very limited. However, it is a nice little place to visit.

When my mom visited, we went over to the Harn Homestead for a tour. All but one of the houses (there are 3 plus a school) is self-guided. There is also a modern barn that is used as a wedding venue.

This homestead is interesting with many activities and interests for the children. The day we were there, there were many school children enjoying the homestead activities. Walking is required on primitive paths so good walking shoes is advantageous. The original home can only be toured at certain times of the day and we weren't there at that time so did... More

We had a good time! I took my brother and niece and enjoyed it very much. We took lot of pictures of LOTS of interesting things like the car in the Working Barn and the farm equipment that was around the property. We loved it!

Really fascinating story about the Harn Homestead, next door to the "Capitol" of Oklahoma buildings, and next door to the area where all the oil wells were drilled on the Capitol grounds (some still standing) in the twenties. Some of the buildings are re-built or replicas, but it does not take away from the history.

I set out to tour this bright & early on a Monday morning. I was surprised at how dilapidated the house was. The grounds were interesting, & had a small garden, a barn, a newer event barn, an old schoolhouse (not open on this day), a rustic cabin & a rustic home for a family member to live in, &... More

Traveled from Georgia to Oklahoma City because my husband and I love history. After having read the history of Harn Homestead, we were eager for our visit. Arrived at 2PM on a cloudy, windy, rain any time Monday afternoon to find we were the only visitors. When we entered the visitors center a woman looked up and asked, "what do... More
