This is a terrific small art museum. You would never guess that a collection of French Impressionist paintings by Van Gogh, Monet, and Degas would be in Norman, Oklahoma. The rest of the permanent collection is nice too. There are also interesting traveling exhibits. Over...More

Large collection with an emphasis on Western and Native American art, but also has gorgeous furniture and decorative arts in a home-like setting, modern glassware and even a smattering of older European and world art. All this for free on the campus of the state...More

An interesting mix of ethnic and contemporary art. The stars are the paintings from the 1948 aborted American art show that was to travel the world and was brought down by political hysteria. Amazingly they were bought for 5 cents on the dollar since a...More

The greeters at the museum entrance, staff in the gift shop, and gallery attendants were all helpful and friendly, and the physical space itself has a nice spacious feel--as someone who tends to get lost easily, I also found it easy to navigate using the...More

The museum used to underemphasize its collection purchased from the U.S. State Department, which included great examples of early 20th century art, and to overemphasize its Weitenhoffer Collection, which consisted of sometimes second rate art by first rate Impressionists. The game changer is a entire...More

The Weltzenhoffer collection at this museum is the crown jewel. It is the largest and most valuable ($50 million) collection of Impressionist art ever donated to a university. They have it on display exactly as the Weltzenhoffers did at their home. There are four or...More

The Fred Jones Jr. Museum is worth a trip to Norman! The beautiful small Van Gogh portrait, alone is worth the visit. Wonderful display of a nice Impressionist collection. Also a strong American collection with some European and Western gems. I highly recommend a visit...More

Famous pieces by VERY famous artists. You won't believe that it's all here in Norman. These are pieces that I would expect to see in New York. I have been back several times. 3 floors of amazing art and it's free.
