There is so much to see! Allow a minimum of 2 hours to tour the inside and outside exhibits. It would be great if there was a guided tour of sorts. We missed a lot I'm sure.

We were passing through Elk City and spotted this museum complex. It has four different smaller museums on the grounds. The entry price was very reasonable and it was great to see the exhibits and learn more about Rt 66. It is a good place for couples or families. There is a large courtyard area within the complex which would... More

I stopped at this museum mostly due to the incredibly large sign they had out front. It's a nice re-creation of how life used to be along route 66. There's a re-creation of a town that you could stroll through-but make sure to stop in the gift store first to purchase a ticket to view the town and museum. I... More

I saw a sign off of interstate 40 but it took quite a while to get to and coming back I had to go about 10 miles the other direction before I could turn around Good museum with gift shop. Like 5 bucks to get in.

An incredible collection of items related to trekking on Route 66. You really get a flavor of what it was like from the very early days all the way through the present. Quite a collection of memorabilia and a well stocked gift shop.

We arrived 10 mins before closing and were abruptly told to come back tomorrow. Yes they were closing, but 10 mins isn't exactly shutting down time. The lady at the desk was rude about it and sternly told me NOT to take any pictures. Where did the American hospitality go to?

Although nice to see this place was not quite what I had hoped. We were travelling the whole of the Route and were expecting more from the National Route 66 museum. We saw larger and more varied collections elsewhere but I am still glad we stopped here.

The little town of Elk City has done this one perfect. Plenty of original buildings to see and filled with items of 50+ years ago. Beautiful park to walk around in.Plenty of items to look for in the Pay Museum. Very well done.

Everyone was friendly and helpful, you need at least 90 minutes or more to see everything this is a whole block of several buildings and tons of history. Very enjoyable!
