I live within 10 minutes of Dawes and it's such a beautiful place. I love going for walks here. It's quiet and clean. The trees and water are very relaxing. If you aren't from this area you should at least drive through. It's a really nice place. I've had family married here, and it's great for just going on a... More

We took our three grandchildren to the Dawes for a day outing. They enjoyed driving around, along with the hiking trails and lookout tower. The lake grabbed their attention. They hope they can go back, especially for the Maple Syrup Days in March.

I have come here on dates and have brought my niece and nephew here. It is beautiful and nice when you don't have a ton of cash, but want a quality time.

When I was growing up our dad used to take us for Sunday drives and we would often end up at Dawe's~even as a little girl I loved going there! My sophomore year in high school our teacher would always have us do a leaf collection and talk about the different species of trees, where they were native to, etc.... More

Just off the highway, stopped while driving from Louisville to NYC. Beautiful place. Many different garden themes and a huge collection of holly trees. Grand vistas, meticulously groomed; Japanese garden is spectacular. The trimmed trees spelling out the name is grandiose....even from the observatory tower it is not possible to view the whole thing. Hundreds of interesting trees of varied... More

The Dawes Arboretum hosts walking trails, both ADA compliant and unimproved. Much of the area is accessible by driving through the parks scenic roads, which are shared by bikes and pedestrians, but to really experience the arboretum you need to get out and walk among the trees and visit the ponds and flower beds. It is a great family attraction... More

We took our three grandchildren this past Summer for a morning outing. They were totally fascinated with the beauty, hiking, and special things to see. They especially enjoyed the hiking around the lake and ponds. The frogs and other living creatures were the hit of the day. A wonderful outing for the grandparents as well!!!

I have been here before in the summer, truly the best time to see trees and plants at their peak. But we stopped by just on a whim in February, the weather was unseasonably warm, 58°, and enjoyed walking around the grounds for about an hour. Nice way to spend some time, stretch the legs while on a road trip.

Dawes is a lovely place to walk in any season, particularly in the spring with the flowering trees or in the fall. The Japanese gardens are a must see, but the whole park is beautiful. There is also a nice nature center and gift shop.
