We have a group picnic out there every year, we never have any trouble finding a space, Kind of hard to believe it's in northeast Ohio. Nice hot sand and beautiful sites to see.

Headlands beach is a great way to spend a hot summer day or just to walk in the evening to see the sunset. I can say that some of the sunsets on Lake Erie are more spectacular than those on Key West (but maybe not...More

Very nice place. Huge stretch of beach. There are life guard stations most of the beach. The farther down toward the end, there are not any stations and it is usually less crowded. They have concession stands scattered along the beach but the ones at...More

Yes, the best secret of Mentor! Wild part of Headlands with (unfinished) boardwalk thru the dunes access is perfect for after work relax, Scrabble or just sunset watching. Better than beach at Marta's Vineyard also better sunsets than in Naples Florida!

I don't know what the park is like on a weekend at the height of summer, but when it's not crowded it's lovely. Lots of beach before you reach Lake Erie (though the water quality was rated "caution" when we were there) and then great...More

I took my sons to this beach on a very warm September Sunday. We spent about 3 hours enjoying the sun and beach. It was very clean, there was very little litter for a public beach. More seagull feathers than litter actually. The beach was...More

I've been coming to Headlands beach for years and it's always a great place to visit. There are plenty of paved paths for joggers and people who like to walk. Lots of woods and shade around incredibly large parking lot. Trails that lead to fishing...More

A summer evening at the beach, grilling, and picnicking is time well spent at Headlands Beach. There's normally plenty of parking (except on obvious holidays) and access to grills also has not usually been a problem. The beach is quite nice, and we normally meet...More

The lake was beautiful and packed with families enjoying the water and beach. Its was fun to walk on the beach and look at the stunning Fairport Harbor lighthouse.

I am guessing because it is a State facility and the season has not officially opened, it will probably not happen until possibly near the end of this month or maybe early to mid May, buy definitely before Memorial Day... More

There is a path you can walk your dog. However you can't take them onto the beach it self, not on the parks property.
