Went here with friends from Ohio and we all thoroughly enjoyed the guided tour and the information about one of the shortest terms for a president. Also 1 of 4 that were assassinated. He was quite an exceptional man!

President James A. Garfield only held that office for 4 months, but his legacy left behind a beautiful library and national park. The cost for adults was $7 per person (under 18 free). The tour of the house was informative with lots of fun historical...More

I got to do a tour through the house. It was very informative and every question we had was answered quickly and with accuracy. The house is well kept, and the land is well maintained.

About a half hour depending on traffic. You will also be in Mentor, Ohio. The Garfield residence is very close to the Mentor Mall and tons of shopping and restaurants.

I would plan on at least two hours. The house tour is docent led, thus time controlled, but then time to linger on the grounds and in the museum are also needed. Don't miss the film.
