Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Kelleys Island is a small island in Lake Erie north of Sandusky, OH. This geologic feature is quite interesting and well displayed and preserved. With the limited number of things to do and see on this small island, this should be high on the list.

Wheelchair and mobility challenged visitors get a great view. All the reader boards are on the accessible part of the trail. For others there is a short trail all around the top. Several sets of steps. A small car parking lot is right at the grooves.
Be sure to visit if you are already heading to the island.

Fun little surprise on Kelley’s Island. 12 year old son enjoyed reading the history behind the glacial groove. Short climb up the stairs to view the site.

It’s very interesting to see the grooves. There is plenty of parking for cars or golf carts. It does not take long to walk around. There are some stairs involved. Not bad for kids though. My kids weren’t very interested, but they had fun walking around.

These are interesting glacial grooves. These are the first I've ever seen, so it was pretty impressive. There are plaques along the walkways to tell a little about the history. You can walk around the entire formation.
There is a small picnic area, but if you sit in the shade there you may want some bug spray.

Pretty remarkable to find such a unique formation so easily available (once one gets on the island). We walked around on a cool, fairly bright day; no one else was there (off season)....so nice. Only suggestion is that they redo their explanatory postings as they are faded and difficult to read. This place is a real find if you are at all geologically-inclined, and even if you're not (I'm not).

The primary reason I visited Kelley's Island was to see this remanent of the last Ice Age. I was not disappointed. Although behind protected fencing, the striations are the largest in the world (400 ft long, 35 ft wide) and one quickly begins to appreciate the tremendous power and extensive time it took for the rock to be carved. Educational panels do an excellent job of explaining the geological phenomena as well as the links to the Island's economics history.

This was interesting to see what had formed and how it is preserved. There are signs along with way as you walk around it explaining some of the history.

Take a moment during your vacation and check out the glacial grooves. There is no fee or admission and when you think about how these grooves were formed, it is really amazing. Whenever we have friends up to our cottage for the first time, we always take them to the grooves. Only takes about 15-20 minutes to walk around and read the historical markers and everyone we've taken there is always impressed.

Glacial grooves is part of the Ohio Historical Connection. It is the best preserved and possibly the largest glacial grooves in the world. No fee admission and you can take your time walking around the fenced exhibit. It is located on the north side of Kelleys Island. You can easily walk to this site from the downtown area, about 2 1/2 miles one way on Division Street. Then you can also admire the historical houses along the way. Their are exhibit placards throughout the grooves site to explain how the glacial grooves was formed and discovered on the island - site was a quarry before. Worth the visit to appreciate our planet's geographical history.

is this part of the state park? is there a parking fee for golf carts (i know there's no entrance fee)? thanks!

I’m not sure if it’s part of a park it’s more marketed as natural historic landmark. There is a parking lot but not a specific one dedicated for golf carts. There is no admission to walk around that area and there are fences surrounding it. We did see a few people walking on them with a guide but not sure how they scheduled that. I couldn’t find anything on the website.
