Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was said for many years that "Australia rode on the sheep's back" because most of Australia' exports consisted of wool, mostly going to England. . The men who ran the sheep farms were called graziers, many of whom became very wealthy. Thomas Chirnside and his brother built Werribee Park Mansion from the proceeds of their wool sales. You can see this lavish mansion today.

If you’re a hotel guest, show your room card for free entry, otherwise it’s around $10 for adults. Definitely worth checking out and can easily spend an hour or two here. Has over 150 years of history. Unfortunately due to the pandemic there’s no guided tours but all the rooms have detailed information. My favourite part of the mansion would easily be the open balcony on the second floor with sweeping views of the surrounding grounds and gardens.

We are endlessly fascinated by the lifestyles of the ricjh and famous, even if they lived a very long while ago. Werribee Park Mansion is a beautiful building that deserves inspection. The Mansion was bult in 1874 to 1877 by the ultra-wealthy Chirnside family, who raised sheep. Sadly, as usual it's a case of "shirtsleeves to shirtsleeves in three generations." The Italianate mansion is a beautifult building, which is now open to the public. On display in the mansion are relics of the Chirnside family's life and times. The estate is a favoured venue for weddings; it's ony about 30 minutes from Melbourne via the freeway.

Unfortunately I can’t recommend this place, the cafe was terrible with food expensive, no taste and containers dirty. We tried to enter the mansion and were told we couldn’t enter with our toddler and pram!! They told us to leave our$2000 pram outside unattended if we wanted to enter and were super rude. This is after we had read up about wheelchair access and how accessible it was :/ Our disappointment continued outside, the gardens were over grown and full of weeds, paths soft and boggy, there was obviously a rabbit problem as do much of it was dug up. - parks Victoria obviously haven’t been doing much here. I wouldn’t be racing back.

We visited the park and cafe after a zoo trip. We often come to the park and decided to try the cafe as The Refectory was shut. We ordered two strong flat whites, a three cheese jaffle, and a serving of chips with rosemary salt. Firstly the coffees had to be remade as they tasted like hot milk and not coffee, then the jaffle was definitely not worth $12, made on what seemed like supermarket white sandwich bread, and the $10 chips did not have any rosemary salt. We asked for more salt on the chips, which were taken back and fixed up for us. The food in the cabinet wasn't labelled and we overheard one staff member telling the other one what the cakes were and they had known allergens to not only my fiancee, but numerous others. The two staff members were friendly and accommodating, however we won't be coming back as we felt it was not worth the money.

No eftpos available for the cafe. Only toasties, cakes, rolls, hot food, coffee, tea etc, I would have like to see quiche, slice, salad I realise it is cafe but need to cater for all people. Caught bus 439 from werribee railway station to the mansion, zoo. Use myki ticket on bus. Plenty of picnic areas around to take your own food. Mansion buildings lovely and all the other areas.

The building on the outside spectacular, the rooms nice, the bed omg best sleep ive had in weeks.
Downside two conferences were on and it was busy, we tried to eat in the bar as josephs was booked out but the bar got soo busy we left.
Upside the pool was beautiful and warm and relaxing.
Best advice when booking check for conferences because we sure felt a few times we were secondary to big groups, even though we were paying guests ourselves.

Enjoyed a wonderful picnic in the grounds under the shade of massive trees. No fee to enter the grounds, so can enjoy the beautiful surrounds free of charge.
The mansion itself is interesting to explore and very reasonably priced to enter.
Plenty of toilets scattered throughout the grounds and lots of car parking space, even shaded parking under trees.

I don’t feel compelled to write many reviews, but had such a wonderful experience that I wanted to share. My partner arranged a beautiful surprise weekend away at Werribee Mansion. The grounds were spectacular and we loved visiting the zoo nearby. I also had an afternoon of pampering at the spa - I highly recommend! A big shout out to James who was an absolute gem - we felt really looked after and loved all of his recommendations. Loved the scenery, rooms and all of the amenities - the old world charm and character made our weekend away a really special and memorable experience! Thank you

Stayed a couple of nights, comfy bed, spacious room. Staff friendly and helpful. Extremely beautiful surrounds and away from the hussle of Melbourne CBD made it relaxing and access to the indoor pool was a real bonus. Werribee Open Range Zoo is only a few minutes away.

How can I get to this mansion from Werribee zoo by public transport?
Thanks
Written 7 January 2019
Bus route 439 from Werribee Station stops at both the Zoo and the Mansion. I found this info on the "Getting Here" page of the Zoos Victoria website. There you can also find links to the appropriate bus timetables and route map.
