We were having the best coffee at the Coffee Shack in Strahan, when Trevor(skipper) and Rob(deputy skipper) on the “Stormbreaker”, docked in our view at the Strahan wharf after returning from a trip up the Gordon. Within 45 minutes we had finished our coffee, googled the “Stormbreaker” cruise, booked an overnight trip, grabbed our gear and boarded the boat to take the 1pm trip on the next motor/sailing experience across Macquarie Harbour and up the Gordon River, well beyond the licence permit of the larger commercial operators, to stay at Sir John Falls for the night and to collect rafters connecting from their Franklin River thrills. For us it was a chance encounter and it resulted in a bucket list memory. Rob is quiet, knowledgeable and served good basic fare for dinner, breakfast and lunch. Trevor never failed to fill in a silence with information, history lessons and local stories-with some embellishment!! The boat is equipped to take up to 12 passengers, has reasonable space and will present travellers with rarely seen wilderness, World Heritage insights and a journey of memories. Next time we will take our family, down to grandchildren. Like all businesses, post Covid, this business needs your support. It is one worth supporting, it is memorable and you won’t forget it. Take a camera, a bottle or two of wine and sit back and enjoy the remote beauty for 24 hours. Money well spent.

Take a beautiful steel hulled sailing ship, skipper it with a passionate and knowledgeable captain (Trevor) and crew it with a quiet but friendly experienced sailor and cook (Rob), and then send the lot through the magnificent Macquarie Harbour and up the spectacular Gordon River. This made for a brilliant 24 hour experience. We had comfortable sleeping arrangements and good shipboard food. What made the trip for me was the passion that Trevor has for everything he does. Explaining the wind and his boat when we were travelling at 7 knots with just the wind, or explaining the history of the area through to his detailed knowledge of the vegetation and the river. Our return journey included returning rafters and a group of kayakers. This just added to the trip as we heard stories of their adventures. If you have the time, you absolutely should do this trip. Thanks to Trevor & Rob. Michael, Tracy, Chareen & Deo

My rafting guide booked our group for the Stormbreaker to pick us up from the wharf 30km upstream on the Gordon River. When it came through it looked magnificent!! We embarked the next day and into foul weather we went. It’s around a 6 hour exciting trip into Strahan. We mixed freely with the other passengers but it was Captain Trevor’s commentary (and that of his first mate) that was very informative and interesting. We had a simple breakfast on the yacht (raisin toast, tea and coffee, fruit). I think this is the only way to see the Gordon river without damaging the river banks.

Kim and I recently were fortunate to meet Trevor and Rob and experience the warm, friendly and knowledgeable experience sailing in the pristine waters where the Gordon meets the Franklin River. We highly recommend this experience to all travellers. Opportunities to sail, see wildlife, waterfalls and kayak in the wilderness are unique 🙏Thank you boys ❤️❤️

Trevor, Rob and the beautiful Stormbreaker picked us up from Sir John Falls on the Gordon River after our Franklin River rafting trip. The cruise back to Strahan was an absolute joy. Trevor's knowledge of the river and the colonial history of the place was great, but it was the cruise itself that was the gem. Despite what anyone says, he's always the first on the river because he leaves deep downb in the Gordon at 6 am for the trip back. The reflections are perfect at that time of day, with nothing to disturb them. The cruise was so fabulous that 4 of us from the rafting trip have vowed to come back to Strahan and do the overnight trip to pick the rafters up. Great value cruise by a couple of lads who are so proud to show off their amazxing piece of paradise.
