Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very fortunate to enjoy a small part of this World Heritage area during our cruise and then as we drove the Lyall highway from Queenstown to areas south. Our cruise captain gave us a fascinating insight of the temperate rainforest and the diverse range of flora to be found there with special mention of the 3,000 year old Huon Pines that grace the habitat. Our guided walk at Heritage Landing gave a very good insight of the biodiversity of the area. Stopped at a few locations on the highway to enjoy the vegetation and the mountains in the distance.

The Franklin is one of the most amazing white water rivers in the world and truly unique in it's remote location. This 7 or 10 day trip is an amazing way to see a beautiful part of Tasmania. I went with Franklin River Rafting and their tour guides Riley and Chris were superb, the food was awesome and the trip professionally and safely run. This trip will suit adventurous people who don't mind being wet/a bit cold/slightly uncomfortable at times. Western Tassie is often wet with unpredictable weather. Part of the fun of this trip is the adventurous aspect, so as long as you have realistic expectations (ie. this is not a hotel type holiday) you will be astounded by the natural beauty and the fun of this rafting trip.

This is Tasmania's World Heritage area and more than worthy of this title. The sheer natural beauty of this place is breathtaking.

We did the walk to the swing bridge due limited time on our travels. The walk is easy and the swing bridge was great place to look out on the famous Franklin River.
On our visit there was a bit of a wait because only 1 person is allowed on the bridge at a time.
Great Spot.

One of the main reason why people travel to Tasmania. It is peaceful and beautiful place to be and once you are there you never want to leave.

We enjoyed viewing old Huon pines up to 800 years old and a baby of 90 years! We always wonder if there are thylacines hidden away in the trees!

This is a nice shot walk though it’s also on route to some major multi day walks and we spotted several whom were all kitted out.

The suspension bridge is a highlight.

Four of us just finished 10 amazing days in the beautiful Tasmanian wilderness rafting the Franklin River. We highly recommend going with Water by Nature. We had the time of our life, thrills, spills, wildlife (birds including sea eagles & 2 platypus) & tranquility. Our trip leader Scotty, with rafting guide, Blake, were fantastic - very experienced, safe, hard workers & great senses of humour. The meals they prepared each day & evening were unbelievable - the master chefs of the camp stove. Thanks guys for memories that will last a lifetime.

In December 2016 I realised a long held ambition to raft the Franklin River - with my son Daniel (16 years). It was a fantastic experience. Over 8 days we experienced the truly stunning beauty of the Franklin and the thrills of rafting with a great bunch of fellow rafters. The guides from Franklin River Rafting (Alayne, Riley and Adrian) were excellent: very professional and knowledgeable, always good humoured and just great company - not to mention the fantastic food and the super comfortable sleeping mats! We'd highly recommend this company if you decide to undertake this adventure.

I have paddled a variety of rivers in a variety of boats. Our low-water Franklin trip was a new experience. I had a great time. It was one of the most challenging rivers I have been on but I like a challenge. On previous trips I have had to portage gear and haul boats but nothing like we had to do on this trip. Swinging a fully loaded raft from a rope over an impassable section of river, how cool is that? If you like a challenge and getting away from it all, then I highly recommend rafting the Franklin. I have paddled "wilderness" rivers in the US but never drank straight from the river. The Franklin is so remote that we drank from the river and had no ill effects.

Franklin River Rafting is a great company to go with. They know the river and how to run it to optimize the experience. You should pay attention to the recommended clothing list. We went in mid summer and had little rain (comparatively) and it was still a bit chilly at times. Our guides were superb (thanks Alayne and Riley). Our fellow travelers on the trip were also a great bunch to paddle with. All-in-all it was a great experience.

I just added this listing to Tripadvisor. Please use it to review raft trips of the Franklin River. There are several Franklin River raft trip reviews listed under "Franklin River Nature Trail" which is a hiking trail in the Franklin-Gordon Rivers National Park.
