Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

No joke, it's a Seaquarium with a difference, we bought our fresh cooked crayfish here and to boot the friendly lady explained how to prepare it!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Seaquarium, the ladies we met were friendly and helpful. OK it's not SeaWorld but then neither are the prices! The facility is well set up to cater for children with lots of information for them to absorb and the lower tanks are really down at their level.

What a refreshing little aquarium. The tanks are open on top and you can peer in from above or look through a glass window up close at a variety of interesting sea creatures including seahorses and octopus. The educational section is also interesting e.g., how long different plastic items take to breakdown and other interesting sea facts. My kids aged 16 and 12 loved it and so did my Mum who is 80. I like how you can have a quick look, for low $$ and come out learning something new about the local marine world.

Bear in mind that it is a small town attraction and won't compare to your big city Aquariums. Staff was helpful and unless you read all the information on the animals you can be in and out within 15 minutes.

We have seen many aquarium and sea life exhibits from Cairns to Hobart and this one at Stanley is the worst. Small, dodgy, leaky besser block sided ponds. Extremely poor quality specimens in even worse condition surrounded by rubbish. Stanley aquarium is worse than Vic Hislop's at Urangan QLD.
Poor opening times too.

You are entitled to offer your own somewhat unkind opinion. However, all our sea creatures are healthy and well cared for. 'Rubbish' is better known as flotsam and jetsam Hobart does not have an aquarium so I am unsure how you can compare us with one there I hope you enjoyed your stay in Stanley Manager

This cost $30 for our family of 4, and we were there for about 30 minutes at best (and we made the kids look at everything twice so we felt better about going in!!). There's about 8 tanks with a few live fish, some crayfish and one sick looking seahorse. About one third of the building is taken up with live crayfish tanks.....we should have given it a miss

This place was recommended to me so I drove with my family some 40mins from where I was already holidaying at Sisters Beach - wasn't worth the drive at all.

The Seaquarium is basically two sides of a building of concrete tanks. It was very cluttered with handmade displays and looked very dated. The 'aquariums' were very dank, dirty and overcrowded with sea life. The lady (only staff member we saw) was friendly but offered to (and did) poke the sharks with a stick to get them to move around their tiny cement tank for us - I truly felt sorry for the poor animals as it was clearly overcrowded. There had been little to no attempt of replicating their natural environment.

You couldn't see through the viewing windows as they were completely dirty. Nothing in the rock pool for the kids to see and touch bar a couple of hermit crabs the staff member showed us.

This place definitely has potential with a really good tidy up, modernisation and a good scrub of the place but in it's current form, I wouldn't recommend it. I'm not a marine biologist but I actually feel disappointed in myself that I supported an attraction ($12/adult) where the sea life was kept in those conditions :(

Didn't know about this place before we went, only small but worth a quick visit to see the seahorses and cuttlefish alone.

Great educational visit. There's an interactive rock pool where you can pick up the huge hermit crabs. They sell cheap quality frozen seafood too. If you visit the seaquarium after climbing The Nut, your entry is discounted and vice versa.

This little sequarium is just the spot to find out more about the marine life around Stanley. The tanks are open, with lots of good explanation. The children in there were fascinated by the creatures they saw. Definitely worth a visit, especially with children.
