Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Located on the Main Street of Sheffield the emporium holds a diverse range of historic memorabilia gathered over the years by its eccentric but friendly owner Mark. Walking through the store is like a trip down memory lane. My wife and I purchased a few items from the store which varied from antiques to local Tasmanian honey. Definitely worth a visit while visiting the underrated tourist town of Sheffield.

Well worth a look inside. The people are so very friendly and there are funny little comments on the items inside. It's an eclectic mix of various art and bric a brac. I'll let the photos speak for themselves

The Emporium is now called Doktor Mojo's and is well worth a visit.
Full of books, toys, coins, collectibles, small furniture items, funky soaps and incense and most importantly a great shop to buy and sell vinyl records.
Small shop so be prepared to shuffle around a bit if it's busy...and to keep the proprietor happy...please make sure you close the front door properly !!

We spent a good 45 minutes in here looking at all that was on offer. A lovely couple running the emporium with music playing that could be understood. Lots on show that brought back memories for both myself and my husband. I thought things were a little overpriced but I understand the need for them to make a living. Well worth a look in if you are in town.

The eccentric owner is over zealous about kids not touching ANYTHING! I was in the background listening to him tell off a seemingly polite young boy. Not very pleasant to a passing tourist, and his prices were uninviting too!

This store is simply terrible. Walked into the store ad was greeted by a very negative sign saying that CHILDREN COULD NOT TOUCH ANYTHING this may seem somewhat reasonable but not when a child is considered 18 and under. My family and I walked into the store even though we were put of by the unfriendly sign. Once in the store you are constantly reminded by several signs saying under 18s do not touch anything! My 10 year old brother who is fairly responsible and wouldn’t break any rules on purpose simply pointed at an object showing our parents and next minute the grumpy shop owner yells at our family from across the room “CHILDREN UNDER 18 ARE NOT ALOUD TO TOUCH ANYTHING” immediately our family walked out of the store quite angry and our parents decided not to buy what they had planned to.
The sign read: Children are very welcome- but MUST NOT TOUCH ANYTHING those 18 and under are children. We do provide a kids activity corner. It’s not obligory but it is fun. Children who touch anything will be asked not to (more like yelled at) Thankyou for your consideration

Firstly I want to say that The Emporium was a great shop with incredible memorabilia, books, records and collectables. However, the owner clearly has no tolerance for children- there are signs at the door and all throughout the shop stating that anyone under the age of 18 cannot touch the items and if they do, they will be told!! Happy to accept the rules of the shop owner, but WILL NOT accept the way that my son was yelled at across the shop. Completely unnecessary and stopped shoppers in their tracks. Do not bother entering the Emporium if you have children with you, as you will be made to feel very unwelcome.

Don't let children in. My teenage daughter (16) was offended when the owner told her children cannot touch and she doesn't know anything about old records. Nowadays it's the teenagers who are buying these records and she does know how to look after them.
They didn't get a sale that day.
Obviously you have to be the right type of customer to buy from this store.

Mostly junk that I can't imagine anyone wanting to buy. Chuck to the tip yes but buy 🤔 I doubt. Like the "tricycle in need of TLC" that was a lump of twisted heavily rusted metal with a SINGLE pedal attach. TLC no - scrap metal shop maybe.
Also stank of soap and incense combined.

Love this quirky shop and the quirky owner so much!! Full to the brim with all kinds of antique treasures. Great selection of books and LP's. Be prepared for laughs, albeit sometimes confronting, with the owner... Interacting with him can be better than wandering through the goods!! Not recommended for under 18's, as they aren't allowed to touch, but I guess you look with your eyes any way!!
