About
The Albert Gallery is one of two art galleries operated by Working Art Space Sheffield (WASS) in the famous northwest town of Sheffield. The gallery is situated at the High street end of Albert Street, Sheffield adjacent to King George V park. It is both an art gallery and a thriving hub of local arts related activity. The gallery is housed in a heritage-listed former drill hall built in 1912 for the 22nd Light Horse Company. The interior of the building has been transformed into a high-quality arts-based facility where you can view and purchase the exceptional work of local artists and artisans, enrol in one of the regularly held workshops plus check out the latest exhibition on display. If you take the self-guided audio tour of Sheffield's murals, which can be arranged through the Visitor Information Centre, you will eventually find yourself at the Albert Gallery where it boasts its own mural relating to the Drill Hall's history.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Some very interesting art, craft and photography exhibits on display here. It’s fabulous that such a small town is able to support such a splendid venture and enterprise. Great!

Bright and airy, what a lovely art space. Meeting some of the artists in this community was a bonus, and I was made to feel very welcome. Lovely artwork, a must to see.

The Working Art Space showcases high-quality local art and is accessed from the Sheffield Main Street by a pathway featuring mosaics depicting Tasmanian flora and fauna. The quality of the artwork is pleasing and the town is pleasant and set in a wonderful landscape. Well worth a visit.

The Sheffield Working Art Space Gallery showcases an excellent array of both art and craft works for sale. You might even visit on a day when there are artists working there. They always seem happy to chat about what they are doing

While there is a display of past Mural Fests as documented by the photographs of "Johan, the Great", this is a working artists' space...it mirrors again the creative spirits who live here, who find inspiration here and express IT here. There is always an artist about to sit and chat with, who can answer questions about the show currently being exhibited, or the techniques used to achieve a certain effect in a painting. We heard about Sheffield as "the town of murals", and it delivered. Just park and stroll around. Some of the photos I took look like real people and places. Fun. Some of the murals even have a great 3-D look which adds to their impact.

To see all of the art outside takes a couple of hours. Worth the time if you enjoy art of any kind.

This little village was famous for its murals. They have mural competition each year in springtime and price-winning murals would be mounted up on the pre-set stands in the Open Gallery to replace the old ones while there were many other murals painted on the walls of the buildings within the village itself. Apart from the Open Gallery, Post Office, Police Neighbourhood Station, supermarket and cafes/restaurants were there to cater for the needs of locals and visitors. Worth coming here to have a look at the artworks and stay a couple of hours here to experience the livelihood in this small village.
