I had wanted to visit King Island for years and 2020 proved the ideal opportunity . A group of six ladies ,known to some and not to others, shared an amazing 5 days with Ian and Lucinda this month. We were accommodated at the ‘wilderness lodge Grassy’ all in individual rooms overlooking the sea. Breakfast and evening pre dinner drinks were in a first floor lounge again overlooking the sea- the only sounds were the weather and chooks😀. We dined at the fabulous Wild Harvest restaurant literally just up the road and who (in their wildest dreams) would have expected salmon, lamb, quail all seasoned by herbs gathered locally. Morning tea at places various and then lunches in the bush complete with white linen tablecloth , wine, table decoration on one day and on another day crayfish from a beautiful home with 360 degree views. The tours themselves covered the whole island and we learnt of history, shipwrecks, farming, kelping , local artisans, bird life, wildlife generally and of a truely supportive community supporting each other in this rather challenging year.
I consider myself fairly well travelled and I cannot begin to thank our hosts enough and would ,and already have, recommend this tour to everyone.

The off road day in the south was great fun, exhilarating! The changing landscape, the herds of cattle, bird life, sea and clouds were all wonderful. These experiences were heightened by Ian (the Host) talking to the wild turkeys and them talking back. He also convinced a whole herd of cows to come and surround the vehicle by mooing to them. Very funny. The rough terrain with its ups and downs got the heart pumping and the throat chuckling.
The other 2 days of touring to the west, north and east of the state were historically informative. Meeting the locals in the community halls selling craft was enjoyable. The sense of of a strongly independent but interdependent community was evident.
Lucinda and Ian were the best hosts to us, a group of women in their late 60's and 70's. They went above and beyond what was expected. we were truly pampered.

We decided to do this tour as part of our 90 year old Father's birthday celebration. Within our party of 8 (ranging from 10 to 90 years of age) we all have a connection to King Island whether it be past or present. Ian did the south end of the island tour with us as if we were toursits new to the island and we were so glad he did. The information and history Ian shared about King Island was absolutely amazing...some I had never heard before. We met up with another group touring with the beautiful Lucinda to experience a restaurant quality meal and fine wines served in the great outdoors. If you are a toursit to King Island you simply must book yourself in for these tours to experience all that the island has to offer. The tours travel across private properties which are usually off limits to the public. If you are or have ever been a local you will be blown away by the magic of your hometown, I promise you lots of laughs and lots of wonderful memories to take with you. Special mention to Ricky and Helen for their great work as support people for this tremendous business. FANTASTIC!! And thank you all so much for a wonderful memory for our family.x

From the moment we arrived in king island we were greeted kindly and with open arms from Ian and lucinda. Half of the family got to experience the amazing tour of king island guided by Ian who not only served us some of the best crayfish but his extensive knowledge of the history of kind island. We were lucky enough to dine in Ian and Lucindas beautiful restaurant, wild harvest, and were treated with a delicious dega station involving all the tastes of king island also the hilarious and entertaining visit of the local sheep. We stayed at their accomodation which was clean and family friendly which is all you can ask for. Overall the trip was amazing and recommend to anyone wanting to experience king island!

I phoned to book a tour and accommodation with this King Island company. Lucinda told me that she was busy in the restaurant and that she would phone me back within the hour. When I had not been contacted 8 hours later I sent an email with my contact details and details of my request including that the dates could be flexible. Two days later there has been no response to either approach. I think that this is rude and unprofessional. A simple short reply sayIng "sorry no availability" would have been polite.

My husband and I recently stayed in King Island and toured in a small group with Lucinda and Ian. We toured in an Oka and got to travel in areas only a 4WD can go on. The pace was relaxed, the tourist information was helpful and the lunches and morning teas a real treat. The Island itself has much coastal and estuarine beauty, and the rolling hills with the cattle are lovely. We dined in the evening at "Wild Harvest" where Ian, using local produce, produced superb meals. Our accommodation was clean and comfortable and quiet. We had views over the ocean and could hear the pleasant sound of waves. I would highly recommend this holiday experience, my husband and I found it very refreshing and enjoyable.

We were a group of 6 from Hobart who were fortunate enough to spend the day with Ian and Lucinda today.
What a team they are and what a day it was!
Ian has had an amazing career and it was so interesting listening to his stories of the island.
Lucinda is lovely and her presence was a huge bonus. She also, has had an interesting career path and was ready to answer any questions we put to her.
Heading off in the old 4 wheel drive from Grassy, their tour took us on roads, paddocks, sand dunes and tracks including private property not generally accessed.
It was a lot of fun and we learnt heaps!
Our morning tea stop was memorable and was only surpassed by our lunch which Lucinda and Ian prepared as we walked to the Calcified Forest.
I won’t let on what we had but it was fabulous.
So many bird sightings and beautiful scenery!
Our 7 hour tour was something I would highly recommend to visitors to the island.
They also run report-ably the best restaurant on the island, Wild Harvest which we look forward to visiting next time.

First time ever on King Island and on a small tour group, and oh my goodness it was AMAZING! Lucinda, Ian (and Helen) showed us all over this beautiful island and we visited all of the attractions, learning so much thanks to the vast knowledge of our tour guides. Attention to detail couldn't be faulted and every day was made special - so many highlights! It is impossible to pick one standout experience because our stay created an abundance of wonderful memories. From morning tea in a sheltered cove on the beach, beachcombing, gentle walks, 4 wheel driving the dunes, the incredible crayfish lunch, taste testing at King Island Dairy, nature, wildlife, visiting the many historical sites, and seeing the penguins returning home at night - every day was jam packed. And the perfect end to each special day was the most delicious dinner at Wild Harvest. Is there nothing that Lucinda and Ian can't do? Ian's dishes were so tasty, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented, and the ingredients all had a story to tell. Lucinda and Ian's service and attentiveness to guests was both friendly and professional. To say this trip exceeded our expectations is definitely an understatement. We had such a wonderful time and cannot thank Lucinda and Ian enough for our experiences.

We had a wonderful 3 day small group tour complete with accommodation and meals and saw many parts of the Island both by regular roads, and off-road 4wd bus. Lucinda was very knowledgeable about the Island and we saw many things which we wouldn't have seen if we had "done our own thing". Every aspect of the tour was professional, relaxed, and friendly. Lucinda and Helen did everything we could possibly have wished for (and more) to make our trip enjoyable. At the restaurant Ian was the master chef using local produce in the excellent food he provided.
In summary this is one of the best small group tours that I have done - professionally run, friendly and relaxed, great scenery, informative, great food - what else could you wish for.

Our group of 12 had 3 days and 3 nights with King Island Holiday Village and Tours. We loved every minute of it from when Lucinda and Helen collected us from the airport until they dropped us back. We got off road (and I mean off road, through gates across farms to remote beaches), dined like royalty (lobster for lunch!), saw the local attractions with knowledgeable commentary and stayed in comfortable rooms with views to die for. Dinner at Wild Harvest Restaurant was included and was as spectacular as the views. Lucinda are friendly, a bit cheeky (read they give as good as they get), fun and wonderful hosts.
Do yourself a favour and get to King Island to meet the team at King Island Village and Tours!
