Great place to stop for lunch and sample the local seafood. We didnt do the tour, just dropped in to sample the local fare. After a morning of hiking, we stopped at the Marine Farm for lunch. It was so nice and potentially my favourite lunch spot on our holiday! Fresh local seafood, lots to choose from, all washed down with local wines or Tasmanian ales. The dining area is nothing too special, timber tables and chairs, spaced well apart, clearly marked instructions for cleaning up after yourself when you finish your meal and there were plenty of tables to sit at on the day that we visited. Not enough complementary words to describe the seafood chowder, it was amazing! It was a cold winters day for our visit which probably was a blessing as on a warm sunny day, Im pretty sure we would have stayed the whole day!

Absolutely delicious oysters!!
Tried both the natural ones, the Tasmanian flavored ones and the steamed ones with asian flavor, all top notch!!
However, way too expensive!! At 3$ each is seems really exaggerated considering they culture them next by and there’s no service (the clients do everything)
Too sad, as if not, we’ve been there twice a day;)

Came here for the great reviews, left a bit underwhelmed. Felt like a tourist trap, with a couple of tour buses dropping off their travelers while we were there. My wife liked the oysters but was sick all night. I had the fish of the day, which was okay. Best part of the meal was their rose wine. Surprisingly good.

Well sign posted easy to find.
Sells the freshest oysters, mussels, scallops, fish and chips and crayfish (lobster).
Sit down and eat at the premises with their outdoor under cover seating or take away.
Our fish and chips garlic butter scallops were delicious.
The oysters are grown and sold only at their own two outlets. Here on the Freycinet Peninsula and at Devil Corners winery.
They do not export or sell their oyster to any other restaurant.
Very good value for money.
Heaps of bathrooms.
We did the Oyster Farm Tour which is also lots of fun.
100% must stop.

Don’t miss this. It’s very good. Donning the waterproof waders is fun and then it’s into the shallow water in the river to see how the oysters grow and are harvested. All quite fascinating. Then back to shore to learn how best to shuck oysters (very useful lesson in the best technique from our guide Declan) and then eat them with a squeeze of lemon or lime or a fantastic vinegarette. And some great freshly cooked mussels and a glass of local Riesling. Perfect!

Stopped here on the way to our Coles Bay accommodation. Had some delicious fresh prawns and oysters. My children were delighted with the fresh prawns in the shell. A well run family business, the seafood was fresh and delicious and I would highly recommend

Visited and food was High quality but disappointingly it was very very expensive. We only stoppsd tp pickup some oysters. They were e times what we had paid elsewhere and much smaller. Can get similar quality elsewhere at much more affordable prices.

Great for seafood lovers (sadly I'm not)
We stopped here for lunch on our way back to Hobart. The staff were very accommodating and I enjoy one of the BEST chicken ceasar salad I've ever enjoyed. The rest of my group enjoyed fresh oysters, scallops and salamon.
Layout is very laid back which was nice.
Would recommend stopping by for great sesfood.

Definitely call in if you are in the area. Stopped in on our way to our holiday rental in Coles Bay and picked up 18 of some of the freshest, sweetest and plump oysters I have ever had. No need to add anything other than a squeeze of fresh lemon. Thanks so much for the friendly service and incredibly fresh oysters. We will be back and hopefully this time we can enjoy your nice set up for a bite and a drink before buying more oysters to take with us.

This is a no frills, quick serving, outdoor seating seafood restaurant. Get in line to place your order and pick up your food to eat at one of the sheltered picnic tables. Don’t miss their mussels and oysters, which are their local specialities. You can be in and out of here in 30 minutes, if you need to be. You will be tempted to feed the yellow lab, which makes table stops looking for handouts.

Hi, are you open on Christmas Day? We'll be in Freycinet then, and would love to drop in for lunch. If not, do you know of any places open for lunch in the area? Thanks!

Thanks very much Julia. What time do you close on Christmas eve? We'll try our best to drop by!

Will early April be too cold for this activity? If no, what do I need to prepare?
Oops, thanks for all the answers. I deleted the Question and I shall repost it..
Perhaps I should make it clearer - I have been to Tasmania for 2x and I have lived in Australia as well so I know what the cold is like.
However, this question is pertaining to the activity where I can sample the oysters in the water which is why I asked if it is too cold for that activity. Since I will be walking in the water, what would I need to prepare then (clothes? shoes?) I saw some pictures online where there's a table in the middle and people walking inside? Wouldn't it be too cold then?

Do you still have the accomodation as well as the seafood shed, we stayed in the two bedroom cabin in 2008 loved it plus the seafood that was freshly cooked at the Shed.

Hi, we have moved down the road towards Coles bay about 10 years ago. We don’t have accommodation in that spot, but have a place called Freycinet villas. You can book it through Freycinet holiday houses. We still Farm oysters and mussels. Hope to see you.
Kind regards Julia
