Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
Very informative cruise with plenty to see. The head honcho of the organisation was skipper for this cruise so the commentary contained some personal insights which were great fun. We were lucky to see dolphins, seals, whales and a sea eagle as well as the spectacular coast of the Freycinet Peninsula.
We were booked on the lower deck which had the advantage of external access to the front of the vessel. The only downside was the bento-box lunch which didn't really match the quality of the rest of the offering. That's the only reason for my 4* rating (yes - I know - a bit mean but I do try to reserve 5*s for something that's really really excellent).

Was ok but we enjoyed the Gordon River Cruise more. The trip to Wineglass Bay is highly dependent on the weather and the open ocean conditions. We did not make it because of the swell. We respected the Skippers decision to turn back. They did notify us the day before that it was 50/50 and that we could change dates. There was a nice pod of dolphins in the channel and unfortunately also found a dead whale floating in the bay. If I did this again I would hold off booking until a few days out and check the weather conditions.

ALTHOUGH THE VIEWS IS NICE BUT WE DID NOT ENJOY IT AFTER FEELING SICK DUE TO SEA SICKNESS. BUT THE STAFF IS VERY GOOD , ONE OF THEM HELP US AND GIVE US TIPS NOT TO FEEL SICK. HE GAVES US LEMON DRINK TO MAKE US FEEL BETTER AND LET US SIT ON THE STAIRS BEHIND THE BOAT WHERE HE COVER THE STAIRS WITH JACKETS AND WE CAN REST THERE UNTIL WE FEEL BETTER. BY THAT TIME WE MISSED TAKING THOSE PICS AT THE NICEST VIEW. I DID TOOK A FEW WHERE I SAW DOLPHINS OR SOMETHING BELOW THE DECK.
I DO NOT KNOW WHY SOME PPL DONT FEEL SICK AND SOME DO. NOT SURE IS IT BECAUSE THE BOAT IS GOING TOO FAST OR THE WAVES VERY CHOPPY.

Up there with the best trips we have ever done. It was actually a 6 out of 5 because mother nature turned on a spectacular day. The colour of the water against the white beaches and granite rocks was amazing. Saw a whale, seals, dolphin and eagles etc. Beautiful meal. The crew regally made the day. Highly recommended.

We had an amazing cruise… the staff were helpful, friendly and made the ‘dry’ safety brief quite humorous. They care very much about everyones’ safety and personal wellbeing to ensure everyone has a good time. We were fortunate enough to travel on a day with very good weather and saw seals sunbaking, whales breaching and best of all a large pod of dolphins swam along side the boat for a short while. Spectacular! We also saw birdlife and, of course, the amazing landscapes and blue waters. Lunch was fresh and tasty. We really enjoyed this cruise.

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience with us. We are disappointed to hear that parts of the experience did not meet your expectations. The vessel we use for the cruise is a two storey catamaran with front and rear decks. It has been designed to explore the Freycinet Peninsula coastline safely. Lunch provided in our Vista Lounge is a light ploughman's lunch served in a lunch box to be able to eat in your seat or on one of the decks.
We are so glad to hear that you did find the coastline spectacular.
Cheers

The weather wasn’t perfect on the day of our cruise. We were contacted the day before to let us know if the weather deteriorated there may be an alternate route. On the day the crew kept us informed about the weather and let us know it would be good to go to wineglass bay. It was a bit rough but the crew were amazing letting us know all the time what was happening and checking on each passenger to ensure they were ok. It was definitely worth it. Wineglass bay was spectacular. We saw whales playing and the lunch was delicious. Thanks Noah and your team. You were amazing.

I have done many day cruises of this nature but several things made this best ever. The staff although young were very professional, knowledgeable and funny. Hands down the most safety conscious I've ever had but communicated why and what we needed to do in a relaxed but explicit manner and made it very safe for everyone. They were a very cohesive team. They adjusted the cruise to what we were seeing so lunch was very late but who cares when we saw the most phenomenal amount of wildlife in such a short space of time. It was tail end of whale season so I did not expect to see so many humpbacks I lost count plus hundreds of shearwater birds plus dolphins galore and sea eagles and an albatross. It was wildlife overload with so much happening all at once with birds taking off, dolphins surfing the bow and frolicking and whales breaching you didn't know where to look. The Staff were very excited for us to see so much in near perfect conditions. It was an adrenalin high. Lunch was very nice ploughman style, well organized and catered well for dietary restrictions. We were lucky to see what we did but highly recommend this cruise.

Honestly one of the best tours we’ve done. I can’t recommend this tour and it’s crew highly enough. I was a bit nervous when we saw the average age of the crew and skipper being 20-somethings (OK maybe mid 20s to early 30s). But the crew were brilliant! Friendly, confident and everyone knew what they were doing. The skipper was very knowledgeable sharing lots of information in a fun and relaxed way. The food was just enough and it was great to trial locally sourced wine on board as well. We were very lucky with the weather and the wildlife. The skipper took us out a bit further than normal, extending the time of the tour and we were rewarded with the sighting of 3 humpback whales and an albatross! Plus a colony of seals, the sea eagles nest and large flocks of shearwater birds doing their thing! Lots of stops along the way as well so we got to see and learn about the area and it’s history which was educational and really interesting. We enjoyed a beautifully serene and long lunch on board whilst anchored in Wineglass Bay. The food was really lovely and better quality than I expected. All fabulous value for money. A spectacular day and a highlight of our whole trip to Tasmania. Thank you Skipper Ewan (?spelling?) and crew for a wonderful experience.

Incredible day out on the water with Pennicott Tours at Freycinet. We were so lucky with the weather, and enjoyed perfect conditions to watch whales, albatross and so many other birds. The crew were professional, approachable and so very friendly. We felt very spoiled on the top deck with one of the most delicious lunches, and excellent service. Our second cruise in Tasmania over the years with Pennicott and can’t recommend them highly enough.
