The walks to Russell Falls is quite suitable for all ages, visitors with elderly members just be sure to hold on to them while taking the walk as certain areas will be a tad slippery.

Mt Field offers terrific short walks for all ages and fitness levels. The main attraction, Russell Falls is only a short 20 minute walk from the car park. There are longer walks for those looking for longer day walks. Mt Field Nat Park provides various attractions. An easy drive from Hobart. Well worth spending quality time here.

We were revisiting the Mount Field National Park and this time we made it to the top. We walked around the lake and it was an easy 40 minute walk through various bush landscapes.

This such a beautiful spot. The visitors centre is run by very enthusiastic staff who are very willing to help. The first walk is easily accessible to Russel Falls which is absolutely breathtaking. If your up for it there is more walks you can take for there. We took a BBQ lunch accessing the free BBQ facilities in one of... More

Good hikes for varying levels of fitness, beautiful waterfalls. Only 1.5 hour drive from hobart, parking costs only like $25 if I recall correctly, the cafe offers food and beverage (very overpriced though)

Picked up 10 minutes early at the hotel by Grumpy Greg! Took us to the pier by 845 am for a 915 departure, so hung out by the pier. Then the tour stopped at a Salmon ponds place for tea. The staff there looked extremely unhappy, and the attraction was incredibly boring. Spent an hour there. Then went to Mount... More

I have been coming to National Park since early childhood. Russell Falls and the short walks surrounding this famous waterfall are stunning and the falls would have to be one of Tasmania's most photographed scenes! National Park has everything for the outdoors person and a short drive up to Lake Dobson gives you breathtaking alpine scenery that varies daily with... More

It was about 1.5 hours drive to get to Mt Field National Park from Hobart, but the short walk to the Russell Falls was worth it. We did trek further to the Horseshoe Falls, but the steep staircases was no easy feat for a young toddler (lots of carrying required). Signs were well posted and handles were installed, so it... In to the Tasmanian Wilderness, here comes the World Heritage Area almost covering Tasmania's 20% land mass. Great area to explore while camping, hiking, skiing and just exploring the different lookouts. The short walks with the water falls are amazing that can be done by different age groups.

We arrived just after rain - the falls were running very well. We took the full walks from the kiosk - just under 3 hours - and had a great time. Russell Falls is first some 10 minutes from the kiosk - it is a beautifully sculptured falls and you get so close you get wet from the spray. Horseshoe... More
