You don’t have to be a boatie to enjoy this unexpected gem. This centre is where lay people can realise their dream of building or restoring a wooden boat using all the skills of ancient ship builders. Situated on the beautiful Huon River the shed...More

We stumbled upon the Wooden Boat Centre by accident and were not disappointed. Volunteers ensure tours are run all year round and there's much to crow about with this small and humble but pivotal and vital community centre. Book ahead and bring a crowd!

We recently visited the Centre whilst touring the Huon Valley. The guide at the centre was very informative and thought the boats were lovely. Would definitely recommend a visit for any one with a passion for boats and good craftmanship.

This attraction struck my interest simply because it is billed as a boat building facility and I was curious. I paid $15 for the tour and had the guide to myself. The information was interesting and detailed and I learnt about the two styles of...More

I visited recently with my husband, who is passionate about boat building and maritime history, and he was happy as a clam. Being a bit less enthusiastic about the whole deal, I found some of the information a bit too detailed for my level of...More
