Me and my boyfriend had a tour during Xmas holiday and I can only recommend this experience!! First of all I have to say that Susie and Damo were very flexible to rearrange the tour according to our schedule and the weather forecast. We had to change the day of the tour because of bad weather prediction but there was absolutely no problem. They also give refund in case people cannot make it. The trip itself was just unbelievable. We have seen so much wildlife and I am not only speaking about the seals but also whales, albatross and other birds. Simply amazing. I have to admit we were very lucky! Before the end of our tour we had the chance to jump to the water and check the seals underwater. Totally worth!
Damo and Susie are very passionate about what they do! It was great to be in touch with people that actually still cares about our planet and try to give all the help they can.
In addition, Damo was a very good guide explaining us some geology, a lot about the different species of animals we have seen and how the climate change is affecting the whole ecosystem there.

I was warmly welcomed to Wild Ocean HQ by Susie before playing with their gorgeous dogs for a few minutes while waiting for the last of the participants to arrive. We were each offered a waterproof bag to store our belongings in during the trip. We were then fitted with a polar fleece layer, a waterproof layer, and surf booties. We were also given jackets to wear after we boarded the boat ensuring that we were warm, dry, and comfortable the entire time.
Firstly Damo got a call from another local to alert him to the location of a massive pod of bottle-nosed dolphins, so we made a detour. I guess this is one the perks of a smaller operation with other local contacts. The dolphins leapt from the water and swam right beside and underneath the boat. There were also many little dolphin calfs. An albatross and other amazing seabirds flew overhead. This alone was a magical experience.
Next we made our way to the swim site (with a quick visit to a pair of sea eagles on the way). As promised there was an abundance of seals. As someone not content to view the seals from the boat, but without the time and money to get a dive ticket, the swim platform is a dream come true. Only four people were on the platform at a time and Susie towed us as close as possible to the seals without disturbing them. The seals were so calm and comfortable. The feeling of being part of their world without affecting their behaviour is so special. I will cherish that memory for the rest of my life. I was also grateful that we were given so much time in the water. Even when we weren’t up close to the seals there were so many fish and kelp forests to see.
After the swim we casually sat amongst some breathtaking rock formations to have tea and nibbles.
We then hugged the coastline as we headed back toward Pirates Bay. Damo educated us on the development of the cliffs and rock formations whilst taking the boat into small caves and under enormous arches. Although I have walked above this area on the Waterfall Bay walk and motored past by boat, actually going in there was a next level experience.
After climbing off the boat we were driven back to HQ where we were able to take off all of the water gear, leaving us with clean, dry clothes.
Susie and Damo were both very knowledgeable. Susie had an amazing wealth of knowledge of marine birds and animals.
The group was small, making it very personable.
The experience was like no other.
I can’t recommend it more highly.
Bring sun protection, camera/phone, and a big bottle of water!

Probably the best day of the whole year. The skipper's commentary was so good and lucky all of us got 3 killer whales yesterday and the skipper who had over 20 years experience in this area know how to find them and finally we saw them and some of them showed up really close to us. Also got a hambuk whale, fur seals as well . What a day!

This was the most amazing experience. Susie and Damo were fabulous hosts who really educated us further about the environment whilst providing us with a fantastic experience. The dry suits were fantastic in that you could get into the water and onto the mat without getting wet. Watching the seals and fish underwater was amazing. My 5 year old absolutely loved it. I loved that she was learning throughout this experience and has already started to understand the impact that we have on our environment.
Seeing dolphins and penguins just added to our fabulous adventure.
If I could give this 10/5, I would. Thank you Susie and Damo. This was an adventure we will never forget

Best boat trip ever!!
It was a moody, overcast day with the threat of rain. Damo gave us the opportunity to pull out of the trip. I was looking forward to this experience and because I'm from the UK and in all likelihood will never visit tas again, I was very grateful that it went ahead. We were given sailing jackets and waterproof trousers. The rain came briefly and we hid in caves and eventually sailed through it out of the other side of the rain cloud. The wet weather added to the brooding magnificence of the scenery. The waterfalls into the sea put on a greater show due to the recent rain. The scenery alone was worth going on this trip. However we were also met with an abundance of wildlife to marvel at. Sea eagles, seals, albatross, flying fish, dolphins to name some. Further enhancing the trip was the sheer enthusiasm and expert knowledge of the owner of this small business. What Damo doesn't know about the geology and wildlife in this area is probably not worth knowing. I highly recommend doing the boat trip with wild ocean. A small boat is used which feels extremely safe and the whole experience feels personal. Damo and his partner use the proceeds from their business to help support local wildlife in their own sanctuary. What's not to like!!

My partner and I are Hobart locals who regularly go on tours and we could not rate Wild Ocean Tasmania high enough. On arrival, we were warmly greeted by Damo and Susie who were more than happy to take us out even though we were the only people who turned up!! We were blessed with a perfect day and sightings of amazing humpback whales. Upon returning, we were treated by a pod of playful dolphins happily swimming around us. It was the most magical, unforgettable experience of my life and a true reminder of how important it is to protect and conserve Tasmanias beauty.
For anyone wanting Tasmania's most beautiful experience, book with Wild Ocean Tasmania. Not only are the crew genuinely passionate and experts at what they do, their boats are small which means a reduced eco foot print, no wildlife disturbance and no missing out on seeing the action as there fewer people on board.
Thank you for making my birthday extra special, I cant wait to visit again!

Honestly I really don't know how words can do justice yo describing this experience. Without a doubt it is some of the most stunning seascape I have had the pleasure of being amongst. What makes this offering so unique though is Wild Ocean's knowledge and relationship with nature. These folks are able to read the offerings the sea presents and respond to create true adventure and awe. It makes the time a privilege in nature rather than just a tour. Thank goodness we can still find these experiences in a increasing world of formulaic packages. I will go regularly if life allows to fill up my awe, inspiration and hope in this amazing world we live in. I highly recommend to just get amongst it with these folks!!!

A truly memorable, intimate and authentic experience. We scored a beautiful day in early January and encountered a pod of dolphins not far into our trip, so the crew threw out the floating mats and we were able to interact with them. They then surfed the bow wave, with a few jumping from the water a metre from our noses. The sea lions were thermo-regulating, so pretty sluggish, but still, to be able to get in the water within a few metres of these fun creatures was awesome.
Being able to take in the sea cliffs and caves from this unique vantage point on the water was also spectacular. This was a far more intimate experience than you get on the bigger boats, run by passionate eco-warriors who make the day a complete joy.

The trip we went on was absolutely amazing. Damo was a fantastic guide who offered us the best possible service imaginable. We saw multiple seals cascaded up the rocks pods of dolphins many albatrosses from New Zealand. My partner had mentioned to Damo she loved whales so he spent 2 hours going out deep to search for them. We didn’t manage to spot any but he was amazing in his effort. I recommend going out with Damo because of his passion towards what he does is phenomenal and his amazing hospitality towards us was outstanding. I recommend to anyone coming to Tasmania to go out with Damo it will be the highlight of the trip

What a fabulous cruise we had! Did this on an afternoon that was quite gloomy and although it was really cold, we hardly felt it as Damo took us for a tour around the most magnificent cliffs and coastline- explaining the rock formations and the ecological significance of the area. We saw seals, sea eagles, albatross and dolphins. We went inside caves and stopped whenever we wanted to photograph the unbelievable scenery. Damo is passionate about our environment and practices what he preaches in this genuinely eco friendly tour.
