About
Our PADI 5 Star Dive Centre is situated on the Tasman Peninsula in southeastern Tasmania at only 1 hour from Hobart. Eaglehawk neck is the gateway to the spectacular Three Capes Track or the historical site of Port Arthur Convict settlement. We can offer you a great diversity of world-class scuba diving sites in this area, including the famous Cathedral Cave, the historic wreck SS “Nord”, or the magical sponge garden at Sisters’ rocks. Come and dive with very playful Fur Seals or meet the bizarre Weedy Seadragon. We have sites suitable for divers of all levels of experience from novice to technical. Our staff, several of whom are marine biologists, have extensive local knowledge from thousands of hours spent diving around the Tasmanian coast, and include professional underwater photographers and videographers.

We had amazing 5 days of diving with Eaglehawk Dive Center. The Staff is very friendly and helpful and the dive sites are gorgeous. We even had the chance to do a discovery dive to explore a new grown kelp forest! And of course we saw the playful Seals and some colourful sea dragons. I can also recommend a night dive at the jetty (we did it by our own with tanks from Eaglehawk dive center). There we had some Rays, different kind of octopus, bobtail squids, seahorses, stargazer and much more. Tasmania is a magic place to dive!

We had booked two days of diving with Eaglehawk Dive Centre in December 2020. We were unlucky with the weather and our first day had to be cancelled, which was handled very professionally by the dive centre. You could tell they were genuinely disappointed that they couldn't take us out to their magnificent dive sites.
The second day of diving went ahead, albeit to their "poor weather" dive sites, so not the amazing sites we had hoped for, due to conditions. However, the diving was still great and we did manage to find 2 Weedy Sea Dragons at one of the dive sites, which was one of our big ticket items.
The actual highlight of the dive however, was actually the surface interval, where we were suddenly surrounded by 50 or so Dolphins and 20 or so Seals and while the Seals were somewhat shy and ducking away, the Dolphins were out to play and were swimming and jumping around right by the Boat. Skipper Mick knew just how to manoeuvre the boat (safely) so that the Dolphins would come back again and again for more fun. You could tell that even Skipper Mick, who has done this for years and years and years, was greatly enjoying these interactions, which was half the fun.
In terms of the day and how it ran, we felt it was very well organised. Karen greeted us at the Dive Centre and fitted everyone with their dive gear. She has a great eye for sizes! As mentioned in previous reviews, the wetsuits are actually really thick and well suited for the cold diving. I was quite worried about the dives, as I get cold easily, but it was really not too bad, as the wetsuits kept us reasonably warm.
The Boat is comfortable and easy to get in and out of. We didn't book a dive guide and it was absolutely fine. Mick always gave a detailed briefing at the dive site, the sites were all very straight forward and easy to navigate.
Overall I can highly recommend this Dive Centre to anyone wanting to see the magic that is the Tasman Peninsula's Underwater World. I will definitely be back for more.

I’m writing this on behalf of my son Joshua who did his open water dive certificate..
4 dives all up 2 in the pool teaching him everything he needs to know then 2 open water dives . He stayed with them onsite for two days learning everything he needs for his certification. He enjoyed every minute of his stay , making friends, learning about his equipment and diving techniques.. his open water dives he saw sea dragons and stingrays.
Karen was fantastic and his instructor janelle was fantastic..

What was supposed to be the highlight of our trip ended up being the biggest regret.
Spending $350 + $60 (accom) for the Discover Scuba Diving, my friend and I had saved up, and expected to be taken to see either the seals, or the dive site with seadragons as suggested by the website (both are labelled as sites good for beginners).
Instead, our first dive was at a snorkel site 30m off the main boat jetty. The second site was better, being in a more remote location, however mostly lacking in marine life. While I understand the role luck plays in diving, we were both massively unimpressed at being brought to the first site.
I called and asked for a partial refund, telling Karen that the first site was inappropriate. While polite, I received a firm no.
If you have your PADI, I'm sure EDC is fine. But without it, I can't strongly enough NOT recommend doing the Discover Scuba Diving course, especially for the hefty price.

We opted to pay the additional $65 per person for the guide service. We are reasonably experienced divers but this was our first time diving in Tasmania, in much colder waters than we are used to. We thought the guide would make us feel more comfortable. Unfortunately this was not the case and, due to a bad experience on the first dive of the day, we opted not to take part in the second dive.
I have contacted the dive centre directly before writing this review but have received no reply.

Five recently certified divers and I did a double boat dive with Mick on Sunday 11th July. It was an outstanding experience. Mick and Karen were patient, generous, knowledgeable and friendly. The boat dives were excellent. I could give lots of specific anecdotes and examples but it will suffice to say that we will be back diving with them, for sure!

The team at Eaglehawk Dive Centre were amazing. Professional, friendly, very organised. Karen was very patient with us when we had to change our booking. We did 2 dives, both were spectacular. The dive gear was good, the boat was comfortable. Our dive guide Cora was friendly, patient and made us feel welcome and safe. The dive sites were gorgeous, lots to see. Hot soup during SI was an added bonus! Our skipper Mick also explained a lot about the dive sites and the area - so we effectively had a wilderness tour too. Definitely going to dive with these guys again.

Only one toilet. Only one shower, well, 2 showers with one door. So when one person was in there you were locked out. Other than this, it was a nice place to stay and they were friendly and helpful. Just a bit pricey considering the minimal facilities.

I really was looking forward to diving with Eaglehawk Dive Centre... Can only advise you to reconsider your visit to this attraction.
Booked a two drive trip several weeks ago as part of a birthday present. Received confirmation emails and instructed to turn up at 8:30 am. We also paid a deposit to guarantee our booking.
Drove down to Port Arthur the preceeding night. Arrived as instructed and staff greeted us by name as clearly they were expecting us.
We were then told that our two dives were now scheduled for later in the afternoon as a 'club dive' had now taken our spot. Staff member tried to tell us that they had sent a message which was an absolute lie. Why would they greet us by name if our dive was not until the afternoon. Clearly they were expecting us. It would appear to us that they were corrupted by the additional income of the club dive over their obligation to us.
We then asked for a refund which was begrudgingly given. Not even so much as an apology.
Birthday gift ruined. Wasted hours of our time, not to mention fuel and accommodation costs. All for naught. Thankyou Eaglehawk Dive Centre. Thanks

We spent another Easter diving at Eaglehawk Neck. Again Mick was our boat driver and guide taking us to the best dive sites in the area. We saw shipwrecks, reefs, caves and lots of seals. We even got soup on board during our surface intervals.
Another great weekend of diving in Tasmania. Thanks Mick.

I will arrive by cruise ship for 1 day. After 30 years of diving now I just snorkel. Do you take out snorkel tours or can swimmers go out by themselves? Would this be a shore dive or boat. Is there anything to see at a shallow depth— I REALLY want to see the WEEDY SEA DRAGONS. Are wet suits necessary! Do you supply equipment? Cost? How do I reserve and pay?
