I first went to the Antique Emporium in 2019 while on holidays from Queensland and spent a leisurely hour or so browsing the incredible amount of China, books and other amazing paraphernalia. So this time when I was in Devonport, this was on my
list of things to do. This time my friend came with me and was equally impressed with the huge range of stock. This is not a place to call into for a few minutes so be sure to leave plenty of time to explore the huge store to do it justice

ANTIQUE DOES NOT MEAN OLD/STUFFY/PAST IT'S USED BY DATE.
Mar. 2021
Most dictionaries describe antique as 'belonging to the past' / 'not modern' / 'bygone era goods and products' - and i have no doubt many people would accept these descriptions and move on to the next new 'thing' that might attract them - but to step inside this amazing alladins cave of remarkably well presented/organized 'old' treasures is almost akin to being transported back in time to appreciate a multitude of previous eras all within the same building without the at times 'fustiness' of a museum - my own personal objective was to access an incredible 'stash' of ''outdated' paper road maps from a number of countries i plan to visit and was well rewarded with the choice of selection at extremely fair prices - unfortunately due to needing to catch a flight home i could only spend a short while in this fabulous place but the next time i visit my son in melbourne i plan to catch the ferry to devonport just to spend a decent few hours checking out all the other gems this charming place has to offer = an 'oldie'[?] but certainly a 'goodie' [google it!!].

A great place to spend an hour or so
Mar. 2021 • Couples
Several levels of antiques ranging from modern sculptured iron to old china and glass, stuffed deer heads hanging on the wall, figurines and more recent offerings of enamelled auto signs, CDs, records and mannequins.

Owners are friendly and accommodating but you get the sense that shoplifting has been a problem as signs remind you of constant video surveillance. Shoplifters will be named and shamed, fair enough!

Parking out the front is limited, we had to find a side street.

Well worth a look for the quirky and unique.

Interesting and extensive
Feb. 2021
Visited the Antique Emporium while in Devonport, Tas. It was very interesting with all the trinkets and old-time gear, collectables. Not necessarily an antique shop but certainly has some. It is a rented-sections marketplace/warehouse where various people showcase their wares in numbered rooms/sections of the store but you pay at one central register. It is definitely not to be missed if you have spare time - the place is 2-3 floors. There is a pirate section that is pretty spectacular.

Spend an hour, or half a day.
Jan. 2021
The Antique Emporium is one of my favourite places to visit when looking for something in particular, and also just to browse. I seem to be incapable of leaving empty handed!

To fully appreciate the sheer scope of this incredible market-style shop, you need to spend at least an hour wandering through all the rooms, down the little aisles, and exploring every nook and cranny - this is where you find the gold.

John & his staff are astonishingly knowledgeable about what items they have in store, and they can find you just about anything.

As other reviewers have noted, there is a large variety in price points & the quality of items on offer, but this is part of the charm. Antique sideboard from the 1800's? Check! A book on Tasmanian rail history? Check! A copy of a Harry Potter wand? Check! Costume jewellery? Check! It's really a one stop shop for a carefully curated range of pretty much anything under the sun.

It's all here and super organised. Items grouped by categories and well displayed. Even the DVDs are in alphabetical order! Worth a visit. If not to purchase then certainly to browse

Treasure trove of antiques & collectibles
Feb. 2020 • Solo
This is my absolute favourite antique and collectibles store! An incredible range of treasures- well priced, and very friendly service. Whenever in Tasmania I make sure I visit and see what new treasures I can find. John, the owner, was fantastic in making sure a rather large statue I purchased was wrapped/boxed professionally so I could get it home to WA safely. You can easily loose a couple of hours in this treasure trove - they have sooooo much to look at.

Thanks so much for your lovely review Katharine, and we were so happy to hear the statue made it to the other side of the country in one piece. Looking forward to seeing you again next time you're in Tassie. The Antique Emporium :)

This is a place that you have to experience for yourself there is something for everyone here....it’s not a place you can look through quickly because there is so much to see....if you are looking for a gift or something unique I’m pretty sure you would find it here...the owners are very friendly and helpful so check it out it’s well worth it...!

Rare finds mainly horror kitsch
Jan. 2020 • Friends
95% belongs in the tip. A few extremely rare finds though but you’re looking at $500 minimum spend to get anything of quality or merit. The rest is market junk kitsch with a horror spin. Total waste of money. But... some things! Extremely rare and worth their price!

Thanks for your feedback and review - we really appreciate it :) However, we are sorry to hear you didn't find the quality of our goods to be of a high standard, there is a lot to look through and often you have to go treasure hunting to find what you're looking for. We do our best to have a huge variety of stock in-store to ensure there is something for everyone. We certainly recommend putting aside a good hour or two to fully explore the store, a quick visit definitely doesn't give you a chance to see everything for what it is. We hope to see you back again soon :) The Antique Emporium
