Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

So many treasures, sometimes you have to go hunting. I came across a large plastic tub full of mixed items of fabric, prices on some item not on others. I fossicked for about 20 minutes and found an incomplete set of napkins, place mats and centre piece. On further investigation, the tub was for sale with all items $40. The store manager arbitrarily assigned $2 for each item I found in the set totalling $32.
Disappointing, items not labelled, but willing to spend time to find a set, and then to be ripped off?!
No thanks, you can keep it!!

Hi Monica, We're glad to hear you were impressed with the number of treasures in-store, the treasure hunters love hunting and fossicking through the store to find hidden gems! Sorry there was some confusion around the pricing of this box. It was part of an estate we are handling. The box was correctly labeled with $40 'please don't open'. It was priced to be sold as 1, not individually. Someone had unfortunately decided to open the box, confusing customers with the pricing. We are bound by the estate to sell this as 1 lot, however, we did our best to negotiate a suitable price for the individual pieces. We're sorry our prices were not suited to your expectations. We were not supposed to even offer them as individual items which is why they were unpriced and instead priced as bulk on the box. We appreciate all the feedback we receive from our customers, 99% of the time it is all positive. We're sorry that your experience wasn't like that of our other customers. 95% belongs in the tip. A few extremely rare finds though but you’re looking at $500 minimum spend to get anything of quality or merit. The rest is market junk kitsch with a horror spin. Total waste of money. But... some things! Extremely rare and worth their price!

Thanks for your feedback and review - we really appreciate it :) However, we are sorry to hear you didn't find the quality of our goods to be of a high standard, there is a lot to look through and often you have to go treasure hunting to find what you're looking for. We do our best to have a huge variety of stock in-store to ensure there is something for everyone. We certainly recommend putting aside a good hour or two to fully explore the store, a quick visit definitely doesn't give you a chance to see everything for what it is. We hope to see you back again soon :) The Antique Emporium

The Antique Emporium is one of my favourite places to visit when looking for something in particular, and also just to browse. I seem to be incapable of leaving empty handed!

To fully appreciate the sheer scope of this incredible market-style shop, you need to spend at least an hour wandering through all the rooms, down the little aisles, and exploring every nook and cranny - this is where you find the gold.

John & his staff are astonishingly knowledgeable about what items they have in store, and they can find you just about anything.

As other reviewers have noted, there is a large variety in price points & the quality of items on offer, but this is part of the charm. Antique sideboard from the 1800's? Check! A book on Tasmanian rail history? Check! A copy of a Harry Potter wand? Check! Costume jewellery? Check! It's really a one stop shop for a carefully curated range of pretty much anything under the sun.

This is one of those places a person can easily go lost in! The things you find there, the antiques, those aisles full of things you never imagined existing... And a real chance to actually buy it.
Loved the experience!

Antique Emporium is a real Aladdin's Cave of treasures and lives up to it's claim of being Tasmania’s largest Antique & Collectables Store. We love browsing stores like this and generally leave with at least a memento of our visit. There is so much variety housed here, thousands of items on different levels ranging from bargain priced to gold standard. The last time we experienced anything like this was in Honan Antiques, Ennis, Ireland. Fabulous.

I first went to the Antique Emporium in 2019 while on holidays from Queensland and spent a leisurely hour or so browsing the incredible amount of China, books and other amazing paraphernalia. So this time when I was in Devonport, this was on my
list of things to do. This time my friend came with me and was equally impressed with the huge range of stock. This is not a place to call into for a few minutes so be sure to leave plenty of time to explore the huge store to do it justice

We mnanaged to find free parking righty outside the store. Its not located in the centre of town so that really helps if you are self driving. You can anything from 30-90 minutes in this store. 15 minutes wont even scrape the surface. its big.

Could spend at least an hour in this rambling shop full of rooms of antiques. Very reasonably priced compared to mainland. Found a plate same as my mums dinner set I grew up with. Worth a visit.

A couple of issues with this relic of a busines,
1. Whilst in the narrow aisles making in hard to view any items below the waist easily. Not very friendly for any one with mobility issues let alone in a wheelchair.
2. The owner is one of the rudest and arrogant business owners I have ever come across. When I asked a question about some items in the store he could not run away from me quick enough and would not respond
Yeah the antique emporium get with the times and be a little more inclusive and support your customers who knows they might spend a lot of money on your store.
Definitely an antique in service, presentation.

Take my chance with eBay in the future.

What an interesting place. If you can’t find some unusual memorabilia here you’re not trying. I’ve been a few times over the last 30 years and it always amazes me what they have. I particularly like the pirate ship display.
