Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stopped for a while to enjoy the views and decided to head down to the beach for a short stroll. Nice sandy beach area, a little seaweed at the high water mark but only four other like minded enjoying a stroll. No doubt much more attractive in summer season.

If you think the Mersey Bluff in Devonport is a little too 'commercial' and 'developed' for your tastes then move a kilometre or so west to Coles Beach where you'll find a lovely stretch of sand and a few rocks to climb around in an unspoiled setting.
I have fond memories of it. It was a favourite during my early school days, getting up to all sorts of mischief in a pretty safe location. Back then we used to grab abalone straight off the rocks at low tide. Oh the memories. Pity we didn't even know you could eat them back then! (Well they may have been a little undersized but who knows that when you're fourteen)?
Today it's still a great place to go for a wander or just relax on a towel before throwing yourself in for a dip. (Hopefully the water temperature is more than it is right now - in a very cold July)!
Go by yourself, with a partner or your family. There's good parking with shower and toilet facilities at the far end. And a BBQ area too if you can stretch to that.

Coles Beach is the terminus for the Don River Railway and you get a bit of time to wander around. This beach is really pleasant and allows for some great photos over Bass Strait.

This beach is horrible, I went there and there were syringes all over the place and I think I even saw someone dealing drugs with another a person.

Coles Beach is very safe for swimming. Rock pools at low tide interests the kids. The playground is also a great attraction as is the skate park. Nearby Café and restaurant, plus the seafront walk make the precinct a good place to visit.

Awesome beach has some great picnic facilities no surf patrols so parental supervision is a must.
Swim here most summers and love it.

Some reviewers seem to have confused Coles Beach with Coles Bay. Coles Bay is on the East Coast whereas Coles Beach is in suburban Devonport. I live overlooking Coles Beach and it is a great local beach. Whilst you do get some surf it is rarely large so usually safe for kids. Scenery is great and usually uncrowded. Only facilities are toilets but the nearby Bluff Beach has more amenities, including a SLSC.

What a great little beach, great parking area where we have spent the first two nights in Tasmania - for FREE! May even stay another night tomorrow night, will wait and see. From Devonport places of interest are so accessible on day trips, we don't see the point of paying for caravan parks when we don't really require them. Rather spend the money on other things such as helicopter flights to Cradle Mountain - that is going to be fun!!!

The village had all basic needs - accomodation (tourist park), supermarket, restaurant etc. We took the cruise around to Wineglass Bay - very informative.
