Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fantastic experience. Dame Enid was an amazing person. She could have been Prime Minister as well. Ex Prime Minister Joseph was a true inspiration. Well done to the National Trust for providing this amazing opportunity to view a Prime Ministers and his family home.

Fascinating social and political history of Australia and the British Empire in the interwar years.
For those less interested in history the decoration, memorabilia and personal lives of the family are equally interesting.
The guide was very friendly and informative.

Dame Enid Lyons was a phenomenal woman. Her challenges and accomplishments were highlighted as we walked through her life & home. Our guide (Sue) was brilliant and provided a wealth of knowledge.

This lovely homestead is full of atmosphere, memories and history.
Penny gave us a great tour, with lots of family stories thrown in about the only Tasmanian Prime Minister of Australia and his amazing wife, Dame Enid Lyons.

Fantastic experience. Lucy our guide for the day made the experience so enjoyable. This is a tour more about Joseph and even more about Enid Lyons than the house itself. She was such an amazing woman. What a doer! Certainly well worth it for anyone wanting to know a bit more about Australian politics in the 1930’s

A rug gifted from Madam Chiang Kai Shek, Errol Flynn as a small boy, relationships with the Queen mother and King George, Margaret Thatcher wanting to meet her. There was no end to the accomplishments of the Lyons & what an amazingly awesome woman Dame Enid Lyons was. A must do tour if you love a little history & you happen to be in Devonport when the tours are on.
