Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went up for a look around - car park right next to lighthouse so easy to get to (might be different in high season but no problem for us). Like the story of the lighthouse and the views are great. Nice memorial to a man who lost his life trying to save a friend which just added to the overall appeal. Would recommend

This is an easy and pleasant walk from the town centre. There are nice views and you can continue your walk on around the foreshore if you wish.

Bit out of the way at the end of narrow bitumen road, but worth the effort. Makes you realise the importance of maritime activities – in the development of Australia as a nation, and even now in modern times. There are no lighthouse keepers here, and it is all modernized, but just as important as ever. Fascinating.

An easy drive and walk to the lighthouse with great views. The walk along the coastline was really nice.

The lighthouse dates to 1889 and stands on the promontory at the West side of the Murray River mouth. Painted white with vertical red stripes as it's day mark. It was initially operated by lighthouse keepers who lived in cottages on site. They operated the kerosene lamp, and the later gas conversion until 1920 when it was connected to a DC electric operation. Mains power was connected in 1978. Worthwhile visiting for the views alone.

We had a few hours up our sleeve before getting on the the spirit of Tasmania. So decided to go there look around and relax. Great spot , great views and plenty of parking easy to get to and back out to go to spirit.

Visited the Lighthouse on a bleak and rainy day, and the distinctive red stripes on the white background showed why this was an important design feature. Unfortunately our view over Bass Strait was restricted by the conditions.

You will find a decent sized carpark at the end of Bluff Access Rd, where you should make the time to take in the sights. The lighthouse is remarkable, but there are also tributes to people who have lost their lives from this roughed coastline, a lookout down a trail and over the rocks, and walking tracks to explore

Great views looking out to Bass Straight. There is also a lookout a short distance away where you can view the rocks below. On a clear day you can see all the way to Table Cape
