About
We are Tasmania's first and only canyoning company. We offer an exhilarating way to see a part of Cradle Mountain visited by very few people. We are based in the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, with our tours departing from our office, right next to the Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre. We provide all the gear you need and no experience is necessary - just show up dressed for a hike with bathers, towel and a drink bottle and we'll do the rest. Our tours involve getting through a canyon by whatever means necessary. This includes, walking, floating, swimming, jumping and sliding off waterfalls and abseiling. For an unforgettable experience at Cradle Mountain, come and join us and discover the secret side of Cradle Mountain.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Alum Cliffs packrafting - 3 day trip run by Cradle Mountain Canyons. Did this trip with my 16 year old son in January 2025. What a great experience! Peaceful paddling down a beautiful river, interspersed with exciting and fun grade 1-3 rapids. Challenging and relaxing all at once! Beautiful campsites, great food and everything was immaculately well organised. Head guide Anthony ensured everyone had a great time, while prioritising our safety - I had complete confidence in him. I’d recommend this trip to those who have enjoyed whitewater rafting but want to experience a greater sense of self-reliance and build self-confidence. Don’t miss it!

Had a wonderful few hours kayaking in a beautiful hand built wooden kayak on Dove Lake, with fantastic views of Cradle Mountain. A short stop for a drink and a look at some of the amazing trees around the lake and then a paddle back through a spectacular rain storm that capped off the experience. Thank you very much to the Cradle Mountain Canyons team.

Went on the 3-day Alum Cliffs pack rafting trip and did a day of canyoning (Dove Canyon) with Cradle Mountains. Awesome crew and communication throughout while working through our itinerary. Team went above and beyond to return our rental gear for us and arrange to forward along an item of clothing we had left in one of the gear bags! That’s stellar service! We had a great time getting to know all of the guides and had a magnificent adventure. 100% would book another trip with them!!

Fantastic spur of the moment decision to do the kayaking with Yanik from Canyon leading the small group of 6. It was not strenuous, the setting was spectacular and gliding on Dove Lake in the King Billy handcrafted kayaks was very special. Totally recommend!

I had a fantastic time kayaking on Dove Lake with friends. Our guide was really friendly, very knowledgeable, extremely helpful, ensured we were safe and enjoying ourselves. The kayaks are absolutely beautiful. I am an inexperienced kayaker but felt very stable and safe. We were so lucky with a calm day and blue skies and Cradle Mountain looked amazing. Definitely recommend this experience.

We did this experience as a surprise family Christmas gift and absolutely loved it! Pat and Janek were awesome guides. The canyon is absolutely stunning. Be prepared to challenge yourself as you leap, slide and navigate your way through this incredible place. Thanks!

We had a great day canyoning at Dove Canyon in Cradle Mountain. It was a challenging trip because there had been a lot of rain with the biggest jump 8m and the staff were really chill and supportive. Highlight of our trip to Tasmania and would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting an adventurous day out.

Myself & 7 mates did the canyoning in Early November. Water level was perfect, heaps of jumps & slides in a historic canyon in a beautiful part of Tasmania. The guides were excellent from start to finish & the whole booking process was easy. We stayed at the Highlander accommodation at Cradle which was clean & comfortable accommodation. Highly recommended.

Our family aged 10 to 44 went on the Lost World Canyon tour. It was so much fun. Challenging enough, but in a fun and safe way! Highly recommended. Excellent value for money! We'll be back when the kids are older

I have been wanting to do this tour for a couple of years, I was so excited to be abseiling down into the canyon. That was just the start of the fun, I felt like a child, so excited to see what our next challenge was. And I was not disappointed. Our guides were knowledgeable and kept us safe. The scenery along the way was awesome. I felt very pleased with myself for completing this tour, as at times it is challenging.

Would like to join my spouse in canyoning BUT have some minor mobility issues - difficulty climbing with some knee and hip stiffness. Should I even attempt? (I scuba dive with no problem although I often take gear off in water rather than climbing ladder with it.). Know it's difficult for you to determine but any advice would help me decided!

I'd really give them a call and explain your situation. Some of the obstacles, cliffs and ledges may hurt your knees and requires some manoeuvring, however the steep decent at the start and the even steeper accent at the end of the trip you may struggle with, especially in a super think wetsuit. But defiantly call them, as there are 2 other trips they have on offer, that are apparently not as physically demanding. Good luck.

Hi, would love some info & advice on the backpacks for the Dove Canyon tour. I'm in my 20's and can hike fine but do have knee issues which make it difficult to carry weight. I'm so excited by the tour and don't want to let this condition stop me. Wondering if there is a way I can manage this? On the Dove Canyon video (on their website) only a couple of people are carrying backpacks walking into Cradle Mountain, not everyone. Is this normal? Could I load my boyfriend up with half of my backpack contents so I can manage it with a lighter load... Just like I expect some parents carry 2 sets of gear for their kids on the Lost World Tour? Please don't judge. We are forever managing my knees and he would be happy to do this if it meant we got to do Dove Canyon together. Just need to know if those who've done the tour think a fit 90kg guy could manage an extra load or whether it'd be too much. Thanks in advance

Hi Beet87. For sure your boyfriend can carry your gear if he is keen to do that! All up it generally ways a bit over 10kgs. We give everyone a pack, so you could just take whatever you feel comfortable with and load him up with the rest
