- Marc O4 contributionsThe only way to do the Overland.Do yourself a favour and let Sean and the team handle all the details around your Overland track transport. A brilliantly seamless service that does everything you need and more. We got the shuttle from Launceston to Cradle the morning of our walk, then from Lake St Clair to Hobart when we were done, but they were much more than just a bus ride. Sean also provided a bunch of high quality camping gear for my partner at very reasonable rates. So not only did we not have to buy all the gear for one trip, we also didn’t need to transport it to Tassie in our suitcases. Sean even delivered the backpack to our hotel the night before so we could pack, over and above. Tour guide, track adviser and all round good bloke, we can't recommend this service highly enough.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 December 2023
- AndrewW652Melbourne, Australia257 contributionsExcellent service with useful tips - definitely recommendMy son and I used Overland Track Transport for the trip from Launceston to Cradle Mountain and also from Lake St Clair to Hobart. We had Geoff for the Launceston leg and Dean for the Hobart leg. The trip to Cradle Mountain included a brief stop in Sheffield where there is a great bakery and also a IGA supermarket for last minute provisions. The trip to Hobart included a stop in Ouse at a well stocked roadhouse. Both drviers were very professional, helpful and knowledgable. Lots of good tips for tackling the Overland Track and information about Tasmania generally. Also both drivers were more than happy to go a little further and drop us at our accommodation (just beyond the official drop off points). We purchased fuel and hired PLBs through the company as well. Very pleased with the whole experience. I would highly recommend them.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 14 December 2023

- Chambert1Melbourne, Australia7 contributionsStress free transport to and from The Overland TrackSuch a great service, easy to book, reliable and great communication. The drivers were so knowledgeable and provided lots of tips for the first time trekker. I was able to hire a PLB from them, and bought my gas which was so convenient (1 mid size canister is plenty for 2 people). Thanks for making it all so easy.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 22 December 2023
- April3 contributionsExcellent transport option for overland trackDriver was on time both for both legs. Clear communication when booking and reconfirming beforehand. Drivers also very knowledgeable of Tasmania with plenty of tips. Luggage storage for our hike was crucial and was waiting for us afterwards just as planned. Would definitely recommend and use again in future. ThanksVisited December 2023Written 28 December 2023
- AronBrisbane, Australia1 contributionOTT Service Jan 2024Our group used Overland Track Transport from Launceston to Cradle Mtn and back from Lake St. Claire to Launceston. Simon was excellent. He was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, reassuring and a careful safe driver. Amazing service and great value for money. We would definitely use OTT again.Visited January 2024Written 15 January 2024
- ethorntonWellington, New Zealand57 contributionsFantastic Shuttle Service - Launceston to Cradle, Lake St. Clair to HobartThe best shuttle service I have used either in Australia or New Zealand. Arrived on-time, very friendly staff, well prices, comfortable trip and just the right amount of commentary. They provided a few welcome and small touches that made the journey enjoyable, and their luggage storage option made the trip that much easier. Thank you and wouldn't hesitate recommending them to others.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 January 2024
- gumnutmel1Cairns, Australia1 contributionFriendly and efficient transport to the Overland Track. This service was a great way to travel - reliable and punctual pick-up, good communication, staff were friendly and informative, vehicle was clean and safe. Driver was happy to accommodate us a day earlier than booked coming off the trail. An excellent service well recommended!Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 22 January 2024
- JaneCanberra, Australia5 contributionsFriendly, knowledgeable and professionalOur driver was awesome. Arrived on time and told us loads of interesting facts about the places we were driving through. His wife even packed us some yummy Tassie apples (free!) as she figured we might be craving fresh food after a week eating reconstituted food on the overland track (true). Our driver even waited to make sure our car started at the end of the trip before he left. OTT went above and beyond what was required. 10/10 recommendVisited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 25 January 2024

Drivers are incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about what we are embarking and bag storage service is fantastic. However, I found the actual process of being picked up incredibly frustrating.
We were the first to be picked up, almost 45mins before actually departing Launceston and again the last to be dropped off on Hobart, about an hour after driving around Hobart. On both instances we drove past our accomodation so unsure what logic is being used but one would think you are either dropping/picking up as you come into town or drive into town and then begin drop offs/pick ups.
I am unsure why a break more than 5 mins to use bathroom is necessary (not the case for return to Hobart trip thankfully) on the way to and from as surely packing meals can not be pre planned instead of last min breakfast and lunch at the cafe for the day. The purpose of the transport is to get from point A to point B without having to worry about a car on either end.
In addition, despite being picked up in Launceston 45 mins before actual departure from Launceston, with a very long breakfast cafe break, we had missed the 9.30am briefing at cradle mountain visitors centre so had to wait an additional hour for the 10.30 briefing on a bad weather day.
I hope my feedback will encourage overland track transport to review and improve their pick up and drop off processes for future clients. Happy to have been told to get an Uber to this point and that will be the last pick up or first drop off to get those two extra hours.

Hi Elizabeth,
We do make it very clear on our website and information that we pick-up and drop-off only to the CBD but you booked accommodation outside of the CBD on both occasions. We did still accommodate you but this does mean that you will be the first on the bus (before we go into the CBD to pick-up the others) and the last to be dropped off (once we have dropped off all others in the CBD). We believe this is a very fair system and have never had a complaint about it before now.
Regarding how long you were sitting on the bus, In Launceston, your pick-up was at 6:20am and our last pick-up was 6:40am, we then we allow 5 minutes for our driver to introduce themselves and to give everyone an idea of what to expect on the journey (25-30 minutes maximum on the bus before departing Launceston).
On our arrival to Hobart, you were dropped off at 5:36pm (this is when our driver called us to advise us on your unwarranted, poor behaviour directed at him). We don’t arrive into Hobart until approx. 5:10pm so only 25 minutes of driving around Hobart in peak hour traffic for four other drop-offs (not 1 hour). We have never travelled via the suburbs to depart or enter the CBDs so no we didn’t drive by both of your Airbnb’s on our journeys.
Our Sheffield stop is always very well received so sorry to hear that you also didn’t think this was necessary (very well advertised on our website and information). People generally love breakfast and a coffee (especially since it is so hard to find anywhere open in Launceston at that time of morning) and we are not able to control the weather or traffic so we drive to conditions and as you mentioned, it was a bad weather day. The safety of our driver and passengers is always our number one priority.
Sorry to hear that your experience with us wasn’t up to your expectations.

We used OTT to get from Launceston to Cradle Mountain Hotel. Dan was our driver. We were in the van with about 10 other people ("party") from different parts of Australia - going to start their 6-day/65km Overland trek. I felt that the party were most impressed by Dan's personal experience of the trek as well as his collection of the recent experiences of parties who went earlier. He verbally mapped out the 6-day journey and the different trials, which was especially useful for those doing the trek for the first and second time. No questions from the party were treated as stupid... all were responded to and discussed. You could tell that Dan's interest were for the party to return safely and have a wonderful experience. He also had some last minute supplies which people could buy. I'm quite susceptible to motion sickness and Dan's smooth driving ensured I didn't feel sick. Dan dropped us off at the hotel after dropping off the party.

I cannot rate this company highly enough if you are planning to hike the Overland Track. When planning our hike, our headache was working out the logistics of getting us to Cradle mountain and finishing up in Lake St Claire. What would we do with our other luggage, how would we get to Hobart 2 days after Xmas etc. These guys took care of everything. Picking us up on time from our hotel in Launceston, Andy who had done the track 13 times was a wealth of knowledge and gave us some really good tips and information about the hike. We hired our gaiters which were in really good condition, our PLB and bought gas for our stove from them. They are really well stocked up with pretty much anything you want to hire for the track.
Our extra luggage was kept until we were picked up at Lake St Claire by Steve who brought us fresh apples from his orchard (can’t tell you enough how great they were after 6 days of hiking food) and drove us to Hobart.
If you’re doing the overland track I highly recommend this company. They were amazing!!
Thank you so much guys!

We booked Overland Track Transport to get to the Overland track from Launceston and then at the other end of the walk from Lake St Clair to Hobart.
Both drivers were friendly and very knowledgeable about the local area. Andrew was our driver to the walk and he was a wealth of knowledge and provided many tips and info on the Overland track.
Being able to store our bags with OTT while we were on the walk was so helpful. Highly recommended.

After 3 consecutive attempts (2020, 2021 & 2022) at completing the Overland Track, we finally made it! The Overland Track Transport team were amazing to deal with for all of our cancellations & changes to plans (all Covid border restrictions related). We used OTT for transport from Launceston to Cradle Mountain where we stayed in cabins prior to commencing the track. They then stored our luggage whilst on the track, met us at Lake St Clair to provide us our luggage then collected us after a couple of days R & R at The Pumphouse for our return transport to Launceston. They were all very knowledgeable about the track, safe drivers and extremely pleasant to deal with. Our luggage was looked after professionally & I would have no hesitation in recommending OTT to anyone that needs a similar service.

What more could you want than reliability of transport, to and from, Cradle Mt and Lake St Clair? I was able to finish my overland trip a day early and able to return to Launceston due to the guaranteed advertised scheduled service (subject to capacity limitations, of course). What made the journey to Cradle Mt and back from Lake St Clair enjoyable was the attitude of the driver; I think his name was Dan. So nice to talk to a well-traveled individual who doesn't have the condescending attitude that is common among so many bus drivers. I hope the company gets over this Covid-related downturn in good shape.

We travelled with Overland Track Transport from Launceston to the start of the Overland Track and then from Lake St Clair to Hobart. Both legs of the trip were great. Andrew and Steve were both helpful, knowledgeable and very entertaining. We felt like we were being driven by a friend.

We used Overland Track Transport to get from Launceston to Cradle Mountain and Lake St Clair to Hobart. Both trips were great, the drivers on both trips were friendly, prompt and knowledgeable. We loved the fact that it was so easy to book our trip and that it did not matter on the number of passengers travelling that it was a fixed price and that the trip would run. The vehicles were both clean and comfortable and we loved that we could but our gas and hire the PLB from them so we did not have to race around in Launceston prior to going on the track.

Could not recommend Overland Track Transport enough! It's easy to tell this is the kind of company that's run by locals who genuinely care about the experience of their customers. Correspondence with Sean prior to the trip was fantastic, plus our drivers Dan and Michael were both wonderful! Full of knowledge, great fun facts about Tassie and more than happy to go out of their way to help us out with answering questions, weighing and fitting packs, gear rentals and dropping us at our Airbnbs, even if they weren't exactly in the CBD. Loved the Tassie apples on the way from Lake St Clair to Hobart! Walking the Overland was made so much easier thanks to these guys, thanks from Jess and Kirsten!!!

These guys are the best.
Ive done the overland track twice, the most recent was certainly not without its share of dramas, including busted shoes , a frantic journey back to an outdoors shop in launceston and a delayed start to the track.
They went above and beyond to render assistance, highly recommend them, especially Andrew, Melodie and Chris.
