Cherie was an informative interesting guide who took us on a wonderful day’s adventure sampling a wide range of produce from the north west corner of Tasmania Not only was it beautiful (from the beautiful coast to the patchwork of the countryside) we also got to taste delicious locally produced cheese, wine, olive oil, chocolates and berry ice cream made fresh for us. One of the highlights was seeing a platypus swimming around a lake that we stopped at. Thoroughly lovely day.

We had a fantastic day with Cherie. She was waiting for us when we got off the ship at 8.30am, and dropped us back around 4pm, so it was a full-on day. So much to see and do around Burnie, and I know we only just scratched the surface. Cherie is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and it was so much better than doing a group tour. We had scallop pie for morning tea - delicious! We saw platypus, went to a salmon farm, chocolatier, olive farm, vineyard for wine tasting and lunch, cheese shop, and finally cherry ice cream on the way back to the ship. We bought lots of food to take home, so we can now have a taste of Tassie for quite some time 😁 Cherie was a great tour guide and host, and personalized our tour beforehand, and on the day to cater for the weather. Highly recommend.

Visited Burnie for a port stop from our cruise and booked online. Cherie met us at Makers Market with the warmest smile, she drove our small group around to see Burnie natural scenery of opium and poppy fields. Along the way stopped at Bluehills honey farm to taste different types of honey. Cherie provide us with homemade treats to keep us going throughout the day. Went to the Nut for lunch she rang ahead so our orders were ready she took those that were willing on the cable chair to enjoy lunch at the top.
We were able to walk around Stanley historical town and visit boat harbour beach.
Cherie was so knowledgeable and had so much passion for Burnie. Anyone visiting Burnie I would highly recommend Australian wild harvest tour with Cherie.

Cherie was an excellent guide and her passion about Tasmania and it’s food and natural scenery was infectious. Wished we had more time to explore the diverse culinary bounty (we were cut short by our cruise line). Cherie was very amenable in meeting our desires and wishes. She also brings along a few surprise treats that makes the tour even more enjoyable. You cannot go wrong with a tour with Cherie.

Thank you so much for your glowing review. I really appreciate that you not only did this, but also before your cruise has even finished. It was my absolute pleasure to show you both around and I am so glad that you will leave our shores with lovely memories. Happy cruising.

We visited Burnie on a stopover from our cruise ship and booked our tour online. Cherie met us at the Makers' Market and drove us around the district. We had a fabulous day, despite the unfriendly weather (Cherie had warned us to bring wet-weather gear, so we were well prepared). It was amazing how much Cherie was able to show us in such a short time. We loved the fields of opium poppies along the way. Some of the highlights were the honey farm at Mawbanna, with its delicious honey tasting, Dip Falls, the Big Tree in the Tarkine, the Nut, lunch in Stanley (scallop pies, yum), a walk around historic Stanley, and a visit to Boat Harbour Beach. Cherie was very knowledgeable about the Burnie area and the North-West and we thoroughly enjoyed our day and would recommend Australian Wild Harvest to anyone visiting this beautiful area of Tasmania.

Thanks so much for taking the time to review your day out to Stanley. Even in dull weather, it is difficult not to like the beautiful spots we have here on the NW coast, and I am so pleased that you enjoyed the day as much as I did showing you around. Happy cruising.

We were a group of 10 who spent the day in Burnie and surrounds with Cherie. With only 1 day to visit (cruise ship port) we weren't really sure what to do and didn't want to take the normal route with the cruise ship crowds. After a bit of research we came across Cherie, and we were so glad we did. From the first contact, until the end of our day together, she was efficient, friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. She provided an initial 'itinerary' for our day which we were able to modify to suit our needs. She was honest with timing and what could and could not be achieved in the time we had, but we were also able to make changes along the way, on the day, which was great. She engaged well with all our group, was knowledgeable and able to answer our questions, but at the same time was not intrusive or over the top, a perfect guide for our day and group. We also very much enjoyed the interaction with the local businesses that Cherie took us to and were happy to support them.
Thanks again Cherie for a very enjoyable day.

After nearly missing our cruise stop in Burnie the ship's Captain was able to dock a day later.
Thank goodness it did, and that Cherie was still able to take us on our tour.
Cherie a passionate and knowledgeable tour operator gave us a day to remember.
We saw platypus in their natural environment - visited for tastings at Anvers Chocolate factory, Ashgrove Cheese,
Wattle Hill olives, and wine tasting at Ghostrock Winery - where we had a tasty Seafood pie for lunch. Then a stop to indulge in Tasmania's best raspberry icecream - yummy. We also visited Guide falls which was overflowing due to rains and snow in nearby mountains the day prior. Wonderful spectacle.
The day ended with a visit to Burnie's locals Owen and Julie who allowed us to wander their wonderful garden of Begonias. Spectacular. Such a fantastic ending of a day out seeing all the beauty Burnie has to offer.
Would highly recommend Cherie as we had such a great and interesting day out with such a passionate guide.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I am truly grateful that your captain gave Burnie a second chance after cancellation on the first day and so pleased that I was able to show you a little part of our beautiful north west coast. I will pass on your comments about the garden, and yes I do agree.

My partner and I with friends recently visited Burnie as a port of call on our Australia/New Zealand cruise; the question was: what exactly does one do in Burnie which is small town in North West Tasmania? None of our group care for ship organized shore excursions and the ship's offerings for this port were lackluster at best. We located Cherie, the owner and operator of Australian Wild Harvest, via internet searches (yes, Google is your friend) and a referral from Robyn, another tour guide in Burnie (who we met and is also lovely.) Cherie was a delight to work with via email and she came up with a five hour tour was an interesting/crazy/random mix of sightseeing and food tastings that sounded like lots of fun and we "went for it"!
We had an absolutely marvelous day with Cherie - the tour was interesting, fast paced and Cherie's commentary was terrific. We saw everything from waterfalls to animals, observed field growing everything from poppy to grapes, tasted whiskies, wines, olives and chocolate and had lots of fun doing it. Cherie made Burnie one of the highlights of our cruise with her innovative tour - what a marvelous surprise.
Cherie met us at the I-site with a comfortable mini-van and all details such as payment were effortless - by the way, considering how much we did and saw, her pricing is very reasonable and great value especially when compared to ship tours. If in Burnie, and especially if travelling by ship when time is limited, contact Cherie and Australian Wild Harvest; as stated, the destination and tour is a marvelous surprise!

Thank you so much for such a wonderful review. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to show off a little corner of my paradise. From the perspective of a tour operator, I really appreciate you taking the time to write a comprehensive review to let others know how you enjoyed your visit and what to expect, and from the point of a fellow traveller, it is always great to be able to read what people think of tours so you can make an informed decision as to whether it is right for you, especially when time is not on your side and you want to make the most of all you have in each place. Wishing you all safe travels, and I am sure we will meet again - some day, somewhere....

On April 14 my friends and I will arrive in Burnie via Oceania Cruise lines. If we booked a tour for 7 adults, what would be the cost? Will you pick up and drop off at the ship

Hello - thank you for your enquiry. I have a listing for the Sirena coming into Burnie on 13 April, not 14 April - assume this is the ship you are on. Unfortunately I am fully booked on that day. Hope you have a wonderful time on your visit to Tassie and happy cruising.
